No Cooing of Doves

A big hole is in my shoe
My front tooth is on the loose
Poor car won’t start today

My best friend just ran away
He’d be better off as stray
3 days now we have no food

Thunder and the rain begins to fall
From the roof and down the walls
The flood rushed off with the bed

Empty pockets and broken smiles
Everyone turns away to hide
Is there any help to get

Money worries is what I have
I need some cash I pray
Can you lend me by the way

I’ll pay you back
But I can't tell you how or where and when
I lost my job again
The bad luck never ends

I have no money
Can’t buy honey
Nobody cares about me

I have no money
Can’t buy any honey
What's happening to me

Save me oh Lord
From this pain and misery
I’m losing all my hair
Life is just a despair

Save me Lord
I can’t stand this suffering any more
Feels like I'm dying
Nobody cares about me

My name is Justnoway
Better luck another day
I'm the black sheep of the family

Not a cent to call my own
No cooing dove to ease my soul
No satisfaction for the meek

Save me Lord
These awful sins are much too much to bear
Does anybody care

Save me Lord
My life is slowly coming to an end
Left without a friend

I have no money
Can’t buy honey
Nobody cares about me

Hi Arturo, a very imaginative, creative poem- God will care - he always does, just testing your faith as He did to Job. Hugs and blessings my friend. Jennifer.

The sorrow of the lyrics with the tempo of the song is quite creative, Arturo. The music gives a hopeful feel to it as if he is down on his luck, but things are about to change. I enjoyed it. :) Rhonda xx

How sad this poem is, Arturo. There seem to be many people who can't pay their bills because their jobs were interrupted by the pandemic. I think there are many of us who would like to help others, but have no money right now. This should be a poem of the day; it's so timely and meaningful. Excellent writing, my friend! A fave for me. Hugs, carolyn

It's hard to tell someone that God loves them when their stomach is empty and their children are starving. It's important to SHOW them God loves them by reaching out and helping them. THEN they'll believe. God Bless, JB

You're right...You can't talk GOD to a man with a hungry belly...First, you have to give him food and water...then he might listen to the good news...Thanks Judy

An outstanding poem and what is so significant about it, we see these people at nearly every corner. I have always maintained that should I win the Lotto, I will walk around with bags of money, just handing out to the poor, I am guilty sometimes of looking away, they break my heart - I give what I can, but there are so many of them - God bless them all. Blessings, Jennifer.

Whoa! From a dark place, but so real today... 'No Cooing of Doves' --- thought I was gonna read about the violence at the 'protests.' (They've gone a bit beyond protesting police brutality, don't you think?!… Heard they just took down the Mona Lisa, because Rembrandt didn't acknowledge that he believed he was a 'Dutch Master.')... Hmm. Nice one, Arturo. Stay sane, Gershon

That is the dark side of change...The opportunist takes advantage...We need a well-organized police force...with legislation...there must not be loopholes...it should be a well-paid job too...who has the power to shoot a gun in public must be the best...

This is indeed bleak and sounds exactly like so many I hear daily until I can no longer stand it and stay away from them or make an excuse the second their face appears. Well done.

As a registered social worker, volunteering fulltime in our church, I can relate to your musing... Being exposed to such, I can say that prayer of "Save me Lord" is actually effectual... as we do our utmost best to help, reach-out, believing that God cares, and letting them truly experience such through our caring and sharing. God bless you.

So very sad. Once you find yourself in a situation like this for whatever reason, it would hard to visualize any other way of life. especially if you can't get a job and all other doors seem closed to you. No help, friends, or encouragement would be very depressing and this could start a vicious circle. It is shameful state of affairs... I trust all is well with you Arturo

It is heart-wrenching to know that this is a reality for the meek, for the black sheep, for the ones without a friend.. your powerful, insightful and emotional pen has inked a deep and moving piece, Arturo. The refrain of "save me Lord" is so potent adding to the sense of desperation felt. Such a sad, soulful, gripping beauty. Warmest wishes, mon ami.. ~Susan

We do have far too many people, even entire families, who cannot afford to feed themselves. We see them often, so they are not forgotten. People are just reluctant to help. Sad state of affairs. Beautifully penned poem, my friend!!
