______________________________________________________________

In the Zen kingdom, where thoughts coincide.
Nihilism is a canopy of shade; it dares to confide.
A conflict between reason and meaninglessness.
The universe has wonders and incredible minuteness.

An all-powerful deity rules over
A cosmic dance where all is in order.
Nothing can occur without its sanction.
The omnipotent creator god is our ultimate captain.

Whispers of the divine echo through time.
Unveiling the mysteries, so sublime,
In the vast expanse of galaxies and stars,
The hand of the divine, crafting wonders afar

But amidst the grandeur, a question arises:
Does purpose exist, or are we just prizes?
In a universe so vast, can meaning be found?
Or are we simply adrift and unbound?

The nihilist argues that life is just a game.
No purpose, no meaning, just a cosmic flame,
Yet deep within our souls, a yearning remains.
For something greater, a purpose that sustains

The voices of the divine are calling to us.
To seek worth and to have faith and trust
In the pattern of an infinite power.
To discover meaning in every hour.

In the realm of Zen, we understand,
That the universe, so vast and grand,
Is not a void of chaos and despair,
But a canvas for us to discover and share.

The whispers of the Divine remind us all,
That we are not alone, destined to fall,
With faith and belief, we can find our way.
And create a purpose that will never stray.

So let us embrace the whispers divine,
And let them guide us, such a sacred shrine,
As in this enormous and magnificent universe,
We can wield our fate, for brighter or worse.

You promised to take care of me like a new cherished bride
I cling to it, waiting until at the point of suicide
now your expectations and my anger collide
because your blessings seem to always find a place to hide
I try to be my own guide
then you caution me and call it pride
very little, you want me to decide
and you say I’ll be okay by just being on your side

I’m tired and have kept all these talk aside
following my own path and taking my ride
my self belief has beaten faith landslide
everything about you in me must suffer a genocide
your rules and ordinances, no more will I abide
if serving you comes with trials then I wish my loyalty had long died
and the dividends of my worship to you, just divide

Lord God!
Now I know twas an uneasy stride
now I understand, your blessings and my discipline must coincide
now I’ve seen that your love is so high and wide
and hating you is like becoming the voluntary victim of a homicide
I said you do not care, please Lord, I lied

Your ways are mysterious indeed
You searched my heart and all you saw was greed
because only my desires and blindness I feed
and you knew among the wheat, I’ll be a weed.

Despite I, not taking heed
You were still patient and ever ready to lead
You never gave me what I wanted nor stick to my timing
but at the appointed time, lavished me with all I need
while watering my entire efforts’ seed.
Thank you heavenly father! Leaving your presence, I now forbid
and serving you wholeheartedly is henceforth my utmost deed.

Where Reveries Reside

Tears subside,
hushed breaths draw ebbing tide,
soft virgin sands, un-walked and damp, shine.

A delicate filigree of silvery brine
brings an interlude where grief and beauty entwine,
gently swaying between now and then.

Thoughts of ‘remember when’
stir again.

Scattered far and wide,
bygones shimmer in rock pools,
scents on breezes ride...
elusive remnants of love
under bitter-sweet moonlight.

There is a place where reveries reside,
ensconced in time between the lows and highs,
where troubles disappear in ocean’s sighs
and hopes return with happiness inside.

Where shades of blue, and rose hues coincide
to nurture promises of sweet reprise,
there is a place where reveries reside,
ensconced in time between the lows and highs.

A haven to reflect on love’s divide,
recall that smile, the twinkle of those eyes
with fondness, then let woven dreams arise
with threads of gilded memories to guide...
this is the place where reveries reside.

We Sing a Song of Hope

Vs 1
When life becomes clouded
with worries and fears
We find ourselves grieving
in sorrow and tears

Vs 2
The burdens we carry,
too heavy a load
and shadows surround us
down dark winding roads

       Chorus ~
There's a gift God gives to us
       with merciful love
       It's a lambent glow, a light.
       Hope's threads are of gold
       meant to mend broken hearts
       sent from God above
       It's a lambent glow, a light
       always burning bright

Vs 3
Have faith in God's power
To bring peace of mind
Be courageous and brave
For hope is divined

Vs 4
Do not be discouraged
Hope conquers despair
With blessings upon us
God answers our prayer

       Chorus ~
There's a gift God gives to us
       with merciful love
       It's a lambent glow, a light.
       Hope's threads are of gold
       meant to mend broken hearts
       sent from God above
       It's a lambent glow, a light
       always burning bright

Vs 5
When trouble arises
We're wary of harm
Remember that hope brings
us comfort and calm

       Chorus ~
There's a gift God gives to us
       with merciful love
       It's a lambent glow, a light.
       Hope's threads are of gold
       meant to mend broken hearts
       sent from God above
       It's a lambent glow, a light
       always burning bright

A lambent glow, our guiding light
       always burning bright

Premium Member An Ode To E. A. Robinson

Whispers of talent are carried on New England breezes
Dickinson, Hawthorne, and the Irvings’ son Washington
Though I sense a special connection to all of these
None inspired more than Edwin Arlington Robinson

Three Pulitzer Prizes were displayed on his mantle place
His childhood in Maine he described as “stark and unhappy”
Though he went to Harvard, academics he’d not embrace
Arlington’s style was unique and his cadence snappy

“Miniver Cheevy,” displaced soul, longed for Medieval years
To Miniver I could relate, felt I was born too late
Wishing I’d ridden West with America’s pioneers
But at least my dreams alcohol will never desecrate

For his depressed brother Herman, “Richard Cory” he wrote
A handsome man who appeared to enjoy the perfect life
But the turmoil in his heart, his exterior did not denote
Richard shot himself in the head to put an end to strife

Edwin, your character studies touched something deep inside
Struggles you described of common men gripped me, made me cry
People whose dreams and accomplishments did not coincide
I, too, watch life’s play from backstage, feeling like a standby

Though I seek to display wit, tragedies pour from my pen
And much like my muse, my life seems filled with loneliness
As poets we reach out to touch lives of men and women
Hoping to find comfort as troubled feelings we express

* Written for Jared's "Ode" contest

Edwin Arlington Robinson (December 22, 1869 – April 6, 1935) was an American poet
born in Maine who won three Pulitzer Prizes for his work. His brother Dr. Dean
Robinson died of a drug overdose, perhaps inspiring Robinson to write of the
alcoholic dreamer “Miniver Cheevy.”. It has been speculated that his poem "Richard
Cory" was penned for his other brother, Herman. E.A. Robinson’s poems have a dark
pessimism stemming from dreams gone awry. The style and themes of many of my
poems seem to emulate Robinson, who often wrote in rhyming quatrains. “Richard
Cory” can be found at http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/richard-cory/.

Depths of the Imagination

Let your imagination take a dive
Dismiss those voices willing it to soar,
Explore the secrets hidden to mankind
And gaze at sights you've never seen before.

Take a deep breath then silently descend;
Leave restless shores and anxious thoughts behind.
Deep in the fearless ocean's azure realm,
Enchanted landscapes captivate your mind.

A world of wonders passes slowly by
As free from bonds of gravity you glide.
Through living waters rich in vibrant life
Kaleidoscopic colours coincide.

Fine gossamer of fragile life cascades
Down to the luring coral reef below,
A ballet of exotic fish parade
As bioluminescent starfish glow.

When life's adventures dangle out of reach,
Imagination holds the magic key
Just close your eyes and dare to take the plunge
To open seas of possibility.

Premium Member Practice What You Preach

There are many genuine , good and kind people in our world

Who’s kindness, empathy and good deeds are apparent

Who give and help those in need without expectation

Their authentic , selfless, humble souls transparent

There are also those who voice all the right words

Yet their words and actions do not coincide

Outwardly spouting graciousness and compassion

Yet their actions and real truth lies inside

If your heart is truly open and sincere

Your virtues are beyond reach

Show it in your actions

And practice what you preach!

Premium Member Embrace the Ride

Life can be compared to an enormous slide,
though it can be scary we must enjoy the ride.
It has many ups and downs but we mustn’t hide.
We must face our fears with dignity and pride,
even if it means falling on our back side.
Let hope for a better tomorrow be your guide,
Couple hope with love and they shall coincide.
Next positivity will flow because hope and love reside.

Premium Member Perpetual Autumn

Butterflies cluster where nerve endings shift
In regions where the mind aimlessly drifts
 They will never fly again,..
 In perpetual autumn they remain

There is a flower on the other side
 Awaiting the mind's caress
 But thoughts do not coincide;
And the flower wilts under the stress

When a thought suddenly takes wing,
Trying to find a long lost summer
It gets warped on neural strings
And the butterflies drift ever deeper into slumber

With your mind in full bloom, with memories to keep
How long will it be till your butterflies sleep?

John Lennon

30 years have now passed,
but your words still last.
Across decades, your memory has span,
and you were above all, a simple man.

Peace and love is all you said.
For you, a million tears were shed.
Your tragedy was felt worldwide,
your death made the world coincide.

Imagine all the world, living for today,
you brought us together, in this beautiful array.
Even though your body is no longer here,
your message echos forever, across this sphere.

You were a dreamer, but not the only one,
we are carrying on the movement, you begun.
I hope you are at peace, where ever you are,
I hope to hear in heaven, you playing the guitar.

Premium Member Inglenook - First Place Contest Winner

In the heart of the humble countryside,
Where nature's beauty does coincide,
There lies an inglenook, a cherished place,
Where love and warmth forever embrace.

The inglenook stands, a beacon of light,
Guiding souls through love's endless delight.
Soaring for the heights, lofty and proud,
The beam room sprawl has an icon cursing loud.

Cozy and inviting, with a roaring log,
A place where lovers cuddle, hearts agog.
In this inglenook, deep feelings do reside
A sanctuary of love, where hearts confide,

With flickering candlelight, the scene is set,
A lounge so spacious, certainly to fret.
The wood fire blazed, its crackling sound,
Igniting passion, love's flame unbound,

In the hearth area, a colossal marble,
A symbol of strength, love's eternal marvel.
The heavy beams above, as guardians strong,
Watching over lovers, as they belong,

In this humble abode, where memories are made,
Love's eternal fire will never fade.
In the heart of the humble countryside,
Where souls intertwine, edge by side,

The inglenook whispers secrets untold,
In its warm embrace, love's story unfolds.
With each flicker of candlelight,
The inglenook dances, a mesmerizing sight,

Yawning with warmth, as a gentle embrace,
Inviting love's journey, in this sacred space.
The wood fire blazed, its crackling voice,
Serenading the hearts with its rejoice,

With every crackle and pop, love's melody,
Filling the air, creating harmony.
In this haven of love, where time idle still,
Hearts are entwined, bound by a thrill,

The inglenook holds the key,
To love's true essence, a symphony.
In the heart of the humble countryside,
Where love's flame burns, undenied.

Premium Member Happy New Year

The ocean's fog and mist so wide,
High tide indifferent, no confide,
Surf's ups and downs in rhythmic dance,
Sweeps all on its watery expanse.

New Year's visions in uncertainty's haze,
Time's march indifferent in mysterious ways,
Success and failure, life's dual ride,
In the misty shroud, they coincide.

Waves' frothy silk on sea crests blue,
Optimism triumphs, shadows eschew,
Human hearts in hopeful cheer,
Pessimism in darkness disappears.

Beautiful waves in song and play,
Defy the gloom, hold sway,
Aspirations and hearts aglow,
Wish all a Happy New Year's flow.

What Is Love

Love is a mystery
Yet it can be so sweet
Love is your history
& the feeling of complete
Love can be euphoric
As well as foreign
Love should be exciting
Not telling stories of boring
Love is that hope
When you need Faith
Love is clean like soap
And forgives others like Grace
Love is a passion
That burns deep inside
Love sometimes passes
Although it keeps to remind
Love is not fascist
It breathes breath needed to revive
Love is a facet
Giving Life to those that died
Love is Empathic
Reliving to coincide
Love is a passage
To open the gates of Life
Love is so Lavish
And love is going to Survive

Bond of Love

Love shall be the easiest word; to say.
Though deeper than any words do go,
Harder in ways that anyone may show.
True love so much more such anyway.
Shall wipe out any form of dismay,
If veracity of heart is graciously slow.
When mixed with eyes that seem to glow.
Tenderness rewarding, true loves array.

More than any act, that enriches pleasure.
Flows from, enacted verses; unspoken,
Spirited rapture, with hormonal divide,
From the soul; pure golden treasure,
Enriches feelings beyond any token,
Heavenly bond ensues; when two coincide.

My Mind and Heart Are At War

MY heart and mind are at war
My heart and my mind are at war,
Body and soul lost between the hate,
Confused and hurt not knowing what for,
They pull, twist and fight to escape,
The battle of pain sweat and tears,
Caught in the midst of heartache,
My soul breaks free and leaves behind its fears,
The pain is too much for my body to take,
I built a wall and smashed it to dust,
For another, but for what,
I lost my faith and lost her touch,
I am soulless standing here stuck,
My mind has won this war,
My heart damaged and broke,
Still not knowing what for,
I pray and i still hope,
That this war will end,
And mind and heart will coincide,
Hoping my soul and body will mend,
For the rest of me has already died
I am done with the pain of passion,
And done with the love of pain,
All i here is my hearts door's crashing,
For this is what makes a man go insane,
I felt her love i loved her touch,
I kissed her lips and she kissed my heart,
Now this feeling, i feel too much,
Now it’s time for my mind and heart to part,
I will see her eyes in the moon lit sky,
Her beauty in a sky of wonder,
I will shed one tear and let the pain die,
As i lay awake in a world of loveless slumber
The illusions of love corrupted my mind,
The confusion of passion clouded my eyes,
The death of my heart came soon this time,
So now i will love in a world of my demise,
You can’t feel this pain that i feel,
I am done trying and this time i am,
When i write i write what’s real,
So now can you see why my soul ran?
Can you stop and wonder,
How i made it so far, with so much pain,
Can you here my heart crack with thunder,
And can you see i live in a world of rain,
I have sought love found it and lost i
I am tired of pain. so tired my heart is exhausted
i am done now if she comes back then i am here,
if not like i said i have shed my one and only tear
