Best Charity Begins At Home Poems
CHARITY
Is the most honourable of all good intentions
To help those poor souls in need
We all have so much for which to be thankful
Our mission is to do a good deed
BEGINS
The task of seeking the underprivileged
Those truly in need of assistance
Doing our very best to make sure they enjoy
A happier and productive existence
AT
Very first news of someone in distress
Be there to offer your hand
Making sure things are contented at home
Then offer to help your fellow man
HOME
Is definitely where charity should begin
On that we must be consistent
Then share the warmth of our loving heart
And our happy and peaceful existence

Charity begins at home
A proverb often heard
Helping out our family and friends
Though surely not where charity ends
Belonging as I do to Parkinson’s UK
'tis a degenerative disease ~ will ne’er go away
We sing each week in our Parkinson’s choir
raising funds ~ giving hope
as we pray for a long awaited cure
A world without Parkinson’s what more can I say
Well may be ~ hip hip hooray!
As Parkinson’s Awareness Week now nears
Should be happy ~ but are very close to tears
When enquiring at our local Mall
where we can place our stall
to encourage kindly folk who pass
with donations to P from one and all
So imagine our shock and dismay
to hear that we now have to pay
Though previously free for Parkinson’s charity
Now six hundred and fifty pounds for the week
plus the dreaded VAT…
Just a stall in a corner of our local shopping Mall
We speak to kindly folk as they pass by
Encouraging donations
that may help to find a cure one day
Though sadly no donations here for Parkinson’s UK
Charity begins at home ~ but here you have to pay…

In aid of a jumbo sale,
I turned out some cans of ale.
‘I’ll drink these,’ I said.
‘And give them my bread -
‘Although it’s a little stale.’
I wouldn't really LOL
Many people'll give to strangers, folks they've never met,
While to and for their closest, they conveniently forget.
Many people will give to others on the world's other side,
But when their own are in need, the same is not applied.
Many will donate time, money, items, and so much more
To those they know not or barely and will keep no score.
Yet, these same when giving to their closest, keep track
And very often will expect their giving to be paid back.
Many give to charities and churches, never truly knowing
What their giving will be used for; where it's 'really' going.
People will and do give blindly without absolute guarantee,
But give nothing when the results of, they could clearly see.
Whatever became of the saying, "Charity Begins At Home"?
Blind giving and to strangers is the prevailing syndrome.
Because those we know personally, to help, we hesitate,
While with those we know not, to help, we can't wait!
This syndrome affliction where giving must be distant,
On both large and small scale, is pretty much consistent.
Within the private sector and throughout our government,
Aid is given in abundance but in distance, it is sent.
Where's family helping family, neighbour helping neighbour;
Communities working together with time, money, and labour?
Where's 'our' government, with we, the people, by and for,
With millions hungry, homeless, yet aid's sent to a foreign door?
People do amazing acts of giving when outsiders are in need,
While those within their circle warrant no or little heed.
If we can find time and funds for those who should be secondary,
We should be able to do likewise for those to us who are primary.
There's no criticising of giving here; let this be understood,
Because giving in itself is always a deed classified as good.
However, with our priorities especially, adjustment is in order,
Since Charity Begins At Home, within our circles and our border.

Tongues as cymbals
Or sounding brass
What you believe
Is but one small path
You may aspire to greater heights
But that will not allow you to advance
In your God's eyes
Love yourself
Not in a lustful way
Love your neighbour
With all your heart
Embrace your enemy
The same.
It is in love
Where the human meets the divine
And in that moment
Heaven's gates open
Knock with love
And they will open to you.
I don’t put all my eggs in the same basket, some eggs are at home in a separate bucket,my home is first for me then going things to other baskets,my charities to begin at my home, isn’t it?
Charity begins at home
You can't repair another
Man's home when
Your home is not fixed
This has been the problems
In the world
Political decisions are
Neither far from this issue
Those who gave us freedom
Has a skeleton in their cupboard
They got issues at home
Yet they want deal with
Our life in Africa
I begin to wonder
Whose ass got no
Cos I believe
Charity begins at home
