Requiem

Call me not a child,
Treat me with adult words,
Eyes that scan the essence,
And see the centuries I have lived.
Ancient soul though young flesh,
Half my heart remains in an older existence.

I wish to feel the gentle,
The tenderness that comes with love,
Finger tips soft and feather like.
I yearn to feel the rough,
The firm grip of a lover,
Hands grasping hips in a fury of need.
Lips rubbing together in absence of a kiss.

I need to speak of higher things,
realms that others fear to not believe,
And visions that we both have seen.
Lie with me in clover beds,
Stars sparkling bright above our heads,
Birds swooping to deliver prey to young,
Eyes filled with awe at the world's cruel beauty.

Lie with me in open thought,
Minds roaming over hills and sea,
Connecting to the world.
Releasing raw unadulterated energy,
Through just a simple touch,
Conscious spreading to the sky,
To flit like hummingbirds.

Call me not a child,
For the things I have seen,
The memories I hold within,
Through one life to the next.
Falling, falling, down to the sea,
Bright sky, rolling green,
sharp waves black, crash against the rocks,
Awaiting our meeting of fatality.

Flowers high in weeds,
Grow up to itchy gowns,
And crunch beneath slipper-ed feet.
Corsets pulled tight,
Tight enough that I forget to breathe,
When in the presence of a man.
Blame the corset for my lack of breathe,
Though he steal it from my honeyed lips,
With not even a brushing kiss.
And a wedding band surprised,
Beneath a weeping willow,
With barely family enough to witness the event.

Four wheeled Slow rolling machine,
In comparison to today's technologies,
To ride a get away in sun lit heat.
Black with shinning seats and room for four,
Or even five if they would squeeze.
Two women, a daughter and a son,
A life of running, identity hidden,
Bolstered weapons for protection,
And an unending flow of cash.
Life seemed easy - at least when not being shot at.

So call me not a child,
For I have seen many years,
Felt the touch of lovers hands,
The cool of friends tears,
Felt the crashing waves,
As another life came to an end,
Spoke of many things,
And made otherworldly friends.
Kiss my lips with fierceness,
When I have yet again died,
I fear not the otherworldly,
So tell them not to cry.

Premium Member You Inspire Me

Just the thought of you
inspires me to heights
of grandiosity and elegance

You coerce me to create
writings, poems of distinction
indubitably perchance

How does this entrancing
energy transpose into art,
permutations of heights

drifting through ions
of transposition, toughness
circumcises deliverance

It's a mystical phenomenon
that's existed for ages,
from the inception

of humanity's ineptness
through the age of technology
bolstered by craters

of existential drifting
through generations
parallel to the Muse.

Land of Hearts--Blitz For Contest

British wanted profit
British wanted new land
Land rich in resources
Land of ivory and coffee
Coffee British could sell
Coffee Kenyans could not
Could not retrieve freedom
Could not reason with British
British took over land
British farmed fertile soil
Soil was Kenyan birthright
Soil of Kenyan ancestors
Ancestors buried here
Ancestors grieved for living
Living like refugees
Living in fear of England
England built railway
England bolstered power
Power taken by British
Power denied to Kenyans
Kenyans displaced
Kenyans were angry
Angry since dishonored
Angry since stripped of rights
Rights taken from Kenyans
Rights only for British
British happy in new land
British prosperous future
Future lost Kenyans
Future lost hope
Hope came from bravery
Hope came from Dedan
Dedan well respected
Dedan joined Mau Mau
Mau Mau took oath
Mau Mau freedom fighters
Fighters for rights
Fighters for justice
Justice took much time
Justice took much blood
Blood shed for Dedan
Blood shed for hero
Hero was hung
Hero yet lives
Lives in the minds
Lives in the hearts
Hearts beat forever
Hearts beat freedom
Freedom...
Forever...

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Do You Ever Wonder

Do you ever wonder
Why some times relationships go asunder?
What were the short comings and/or the blunder?
What caused that awesome storm to lose its thunder?
Do you ever wonder?

Did you ever dream
A dream so big, It became a theme?
A dream so rich, it reigned supreme?
A dream so proud, it bolstered your self-esteem?
Did you ever dream?

Do you ever think
In the chain of your life, what is the missing link?
How quickly that life can change in just an eyes blink?
That something big and wonderful was on the brink?
Do you ever think?

Did you ever share?
Expressed the hopes and fears you hide in there.
Speak of your imperfections and flaws, did you dare?
Feel so confused, that you could only find the answers in prayer.
Did you ever really share?

Did you ever win?
Such as the marathon from fat to thin.
Or the sport of discovering who you really are within.
The war on quitting bad habits, you begin.
Tell me, did you ever win?

Did you ever tell?
Tell that special someone, you were proud when they would excel.
Tell that you loved them no matter what, even if they fell.
That what’s important is inside, that the outside is just a shell.
Did you ever tell?

Do you ever speak?
Express the dreams and wishes that you seek.
Tell someone you thought they were special and unique.
That you were awed by their mystique.
Well, Did you ever speak?

Did you ever explore?
Move out of your comfort zone and tread on a distant shore.
Look for answers not from others, but deep within your core.
To realize that beyond what you can see, you know there is more.
I wonder, did you ever explore?

Did you ever partake?
Really experience life and not just fake.
Get in touch with and allow all your senses to wake.
To permit any and all emotions, to rumble and quake.
I ask you, did you ever partake?

Did you ever shine?
Do you share a memory with others that hinges on divine?
Can you still feel the passion that a special friendship can define?
I seek this for my future; I will plan and create my own design.
Here is my question, did you ever shine?

A Bright Start

Finding myself devastated in the middle of the run,
I built up the courage to start with the new rising sun.
With thoughts of all the encountered failure coming one by one,
Making my life look like a piece of pavement unwieldy done,
I snuggled up with a few achievements, leaving behind none

With a tint of fear,
With a skeptical attitude towards the coming year.
I was bolstered up with a lot of cheer.
The importance of treating the ends as a start dawned on my broken tears.

Premium Member The Graduate

Six years
Punctuated with a walk across a stage
A piece of paper
Representing a past and future
listen to the cheers and whistles
This is your moment
It is ours as well
For you are the realization of our dreams
Our hearts are filled with love
See the fruition of our pride
Languish in our hugs and smiles
We know it has not been an easy path
You have chosen well
You have persevered
Celebrate this victory of the mind
Look too the illumination of your future
For now the possibilities begin
Your path continues forward
The mountain rises
Strengthened legs will aid your ascent
View the magnificence before you
Stop along the way
Rest when it is needed
Drink from the moutain streams
Smell the flowers for they are your reward
Sit and enjoy the view
Be thankful
Appreciate where you came from
Know that you are never alone
We will have picnics with you along the way
Be nourished by our love
Eat of our words
Be bolstered by our song
For life
Although not always easy
It is to be celebrated
So we celebrate
Yesterday that brought you here
Today when you walk across a stage
And tommorow
Each and every tommorow
For we know
We have always known
You are a gift from God!

Congratulations Matthew, we are beyond proud of you.

For those who don't know, Matthew means Gift from God.

Premium Member ABC Of Writing

Articles and stories over a thousand years with peers
Bastion of world and unearthly cheers
Chanting, litting the candles of history
Deepens on hearts of directory
Excerpts of penners' calls immortal
Fountain of inspirational walls eternal
Gallantry in thoughts etched on boards
Highlighted in neon lights, not swords
Inlet of brimming vividry
Jargon of poetic brevity
Kaolin of delicate crystals
Lining, circling in virtuous celestials
Might of dear penners
Nestled in curves and strokes of thinkers
Outpouring of hearts' endless desires
Pillars of writing bolstered with wires
Queues numbered in heralded battalion
Racing with olives in pavilion
Strength of ink on reams of poetry
Tingling ribs with humor and artistry
Up and down you sit and relax
Voices of souls never lax
Wonders in writing and imagery
Xylophone of tones, echoes in bravery
Your mighty pen tells it all
Zany or bold, each word says it all

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards,
nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Who is left?

We are all subjects of mankind—
so let’s be kind and let us be by love defined—I Am Anaya

All Around The World

So why is it they can’t just see that: Differences shouldn’t be hated
Popes change dogma continually, Leviticus Bible verse should be updated
The revelation comes too late, and yes, it is belated

Unrighteous we are, why torment gay men and women, everyone’s unclean
and so you have it, anything else is contrary to sound doctrine,
In a sense, if you look about at the lout, ordinary men are just as obscene

Heterosexuals have shown us just how perverted they too can be
Easy to be lured into a night of dishonorable passions, a themed orgy
Unashamed, receive you will a due penalty, and remember the trilogy

Too many homosexuals living all around the world today
We know the facts, it is hard to come out, and no one chooses to be gay,
Some find out at age ten, he made no choice, never has it worked that way

To have a hatred so strong isn’t natural, it seems its rather what you seek
What makes any sense at all is that being different doesn’t make you week
What labels a freak, but God made us misguided, different, and meek

A mother knows her son is gay
She watched that he had grown up in his flamboyant way
Not a random whim conjured up one day

A heterosexual’s testimony is clear:
A teacher’s council and kind patience bolstered Rob’s resolve
To overcome youthful woes and nightmarish troubles solve
His humanity may have saved Rob’s life. His memory he holds dear
But whenever the name Mister James arose
Other kids just called him q****

Whatever kind of group it is you’re in
Just because they are different from you, but both same to sin
No one here will win or lose, all will end. And if so be it, once more begin.

In Just A Few Words 2 Poetry Contest
Sponsor: Joseph May

The Brevette, created by Emily Romano consists of a subject (noun), verb, and object (noun), in this exact order. The verb should show an ongoing action. This is done by spacing out the letters in the verb. There are only three words in the poem.

For this contest all 3 words must start with the same letter.

Premium Member It Has All Been Done Before

You may think it's unique
That it's just
happened to you
at the moment

But it has all been done before
Anything that you imagine
has already taken place
It's nothing knew

It may seem
like it's a catastrophe
or that it's the greatest
thing that ever occurred

This is just an illusion
an illumination of discrepancies
fostered by time and space
bolstered by the relevancies

of disinterested specimens
that circulate through
the time portals
of everyday situations

An Unholy Mess

Why do they hate so?
They expound forgiveness
But malign half of humanity
It is the gravest sin
That they do not wish to know

The human race cannot exist
Without a mixture of men and women
Men crave priority
While the woman is meant to follow

Through ignorance and machismo
They delete themselves from posterity
The creed of embracing all that they preach
Forgotten when selecting the gods
That inhabit their one sided hierarchy

They court and woo controversy
Discriminating on a grand scale
The X chromosome
Must have only a reproductive role
Of no spiritual worth

A selfish message they send
To future generations
Today will be tomorrows past
Spitefulness will be all they have to tell
To a more liberal generation
Who may think ; what the hell!

The stain of no sisterly love
Does imperil
The hard fought for longevity of a church
That for some is the centre of society

Stifling female advancement
Is a wanton disregard for the maker
Who created all in his image
We are told that
He loves us all
No matter if we wear pants or skirts
The soul it seems has no sex

Side-lined for their femininity
Traduced for being as god created
Women are second class in a world
Where acceptance of the divine
Should outweigh gender dog fighting

A shaky foundation is today’s Christian ethos
The lack of understanding and
The ability to forgive
Has reduced respect for a beacon of society
A grievous and irrevocable manoeuvre

The male domination of the soul
Is but a wilful and audacious folly
The human race will not exist
If women are thought of as a bother

To look at the future of the church
Is to gaze into a cloudy ball
The smoke of destruction evident to all about
Except the Don Quixotes
Who stubbornly fight the inevitable
Bolstered by their own ill will

The health of the church
Is paramount for its survival
The acceptance of those who believe
Irrespective of their genes will extend
The work on earth of Christ above
Let us worship and serve god as one

IF YOU PULL A LONG FACE : PART XXXVIII

IF you pull a long vacant face
Might be you just have nothing to say
Which is not a crying disgrace
Empty drums need be beaten to bellow away

If you pull a long puzzled face
Just read what poets have to say
On their ilk and how they pretend to liaise
Both thoughts and feelings rare they portray

If you pull a long insensed face
At the affronts you have to put up with all day
Pull the shutters close round face
Read - not repeat - those long inhumed ages away

If you pull a long proud face
Your evanescent words others must attention pay
Have your ephemeral self bolstered through praise
You deserve to inhabit Xanadu Laureat of all you survey

If you must pull a long misunderstood face
Little the use reading faces e'en the Chinese way
A long unread face unveils e'en the masked ignoramus ace
Don't Gecian myths enrich the Iliad and Odyssey

Acceptance

People crave to belong
We all want to pull together
We hope to get along
We wish to live in harmony with each other

Ideally it would be great if we all got along
In the real world this is but pure hypocracy
We cuss and fight incessantly
We never treat another like a brother

Hatred is not new
We only have a rehashed caustic brew
Of umbrage and petty slights
That cause problems that won’t go out of sight
The world is thus in a great plight

It’s all about acceptance
In this day and age of turmoil
Upheaval
And terrorism
Everyone wants to belong
Belonging is a natural state
Where we can achieve a purpose in life

An individual is naught but
One part of a greater whole
He can only achieve his best
When he is bolstered by another

To live in a world
Where you look in
Rather than participate
Is to be an outsider
A loner
A leper
This is not a life
Most would consider

Stratifications abound
In every aspect of society
Alignment of every criterion holds sway
We naturally have a gravitational attraction
To another of similar ilk
For none of us wish’s to stand alone

Truly no man is an island
We cannot exist without interaction of any kind
We must participate
Working together
For advancement of ourselves
And of society

Enmity has culminated in Great wars been fought
Over who can belong
The aim is to triumph natural selection
A waste of communal talent

Cliques are our shelters
In a world that does not always
Meet our needs
A homogenous environment of people
Creating a physical and mental ghetto
Sowing the roots of genocide
And other inhuman actions

We cannot all be the same
Individuality is good
Let us live together
Accept each other
Advance as one

Premium Member Shape Shifting Soul

"here I am in human form, but it was not always quite so
earth is not the only planet I’ve been to, through past life regressions I definitely know"- Unseeking Seeker

Does the soul shapeshift?
Is reincarnation a myth or reality?
We cannot dismiss the possibility of the soul,
entering another body after death
or been resident in other planets or parts of the world,
as a bird, beast or a living form lower than humans.
The law of karma and the revolving wheel of life
point to such plausible probabilities.

Life, we conceive as a journey, long or short
starting with birth, passing through growth
and ending in inexorable death.
Though we do not know what waits
at the final bend, I like to imagine
after death, our soul emerges lustrous,
washed clean of all stain and dirt
and in matchless splendor shall shine.

Leaving the carcass of the body behind to rot,
it passes into an immortal state.
Then joins with the infinite being-
the omnipresent and the omniscient.

Just as the desert kisses the mirage in vain,
our search after peace and happiness
shall not bear fruit until our souls, merge with God-
the supreme power, eternal and indestructible!

I dream of a time when angels with torches
will light my path down glazed hall ways,
and lead me to a realm, resonant with the heavenly choir.
where matchless joys unfurl and grace shall never leave.

Among flickering candles, I will see God
on His Heavenly throne,
bolstered by cherubs and seraphs
where haloed saints and blessed spirits surround.

With extended hands He will say-
“Come my daughter, join the heavenly throng,
Partake of perpetual glory,
never more to droop in sadness
but to rejoice in eternal bliss”

With Tender Affection

Merciful Father,

Humbly, I approach You with devout thanks
for blessings bestowed on me and my family.
The world is in turmoil, suffering calamities.
Illness and death abounds, but Lord,
You continue to shelter us from all harm
and safeguard our health from a deadly virus.

My heart is filled with gratitude,
my provider, my righteous protector,
my shield from tears and pain,
although I am undeserving of Your kindness.

Your Word brings me great comfort
and the peaceful calm I piously seek.
My faith is bolstered by Your scripture.

The world around me is quickly changing.
Life's trials are becoming more intense,
but I do not cringe with fear amid the chaos,
for I have confidence in Your promises,
and with faith I will endure to the end.

Dear Father, with tender affection
I offer You my solemn prayer
through Jesus Christ, Your Son and my Savior,
who gave His life so sins could be forgiven.

                                                 Amen.
