What if I, perchance never awake?
My solace is in eternity to partake.
To exist in a realm of God, not of men.
The joy of having a new body!
In exchange for this one that is shoddy.
To live in His world must be so glorious.
And experience the ultimate joy of being
     finally, with my Creator, victorious

         Heavenly body, golden,

An Old Mans Bedtime Prayer

An Old Man’s Bedtime Prayer

Lord: Now I lay me down to rest.
To get away from this days test.
To rest my head on pillows fluff.
To clear my head of all the stuff.

That comes your way as you get old.
It’s part of life that’s seldom told.
I hope to get some 10 hrs. sleep.
I’ll probly end up counting sheep.

As I look back across my days.
I know I’ve sinned in many ways.
I’m real sorry. I’ve told you that.
To say again just sounds “old hat”.

But now I plead for this short break.
To get some rest for bodies sake.
If you “Oh LORD” my wish would grant.
And do for me something I can’t.

For I’ve no strength, my life to take.
Just let me die before I wake.
For my old joints have turned to rust.
I’d just as soon they’re back to dust.

Lord: If I’d wake and look about.
I’d “Hoot & Holler” and give a shout.
If I would find that was my fate.
To there be standing, inside “The Gate”

To know at last I’d passed the test.
I don’t need seats among the best.
It’s enough to not be missed.
My name was on His special list.

But you know best, I’m sure of that.
So if I wake, I’ll just hang pat.
I’ll dream of red, rare, steaks so fat
To ponder where the “Good Times” at.

I’ll shuffle through another day.
And burn more bills we strain pay.
To keep us warm in this cold pit.
And by the window now to sit.

As I think back to ‘yester’ years.
With all the joy, few sprinkled tears.
I never dreamed, these “Golden Years”
Would be so filled with pain and fears.

I never thought I’d leave alone.
My wife & I would share our home.
But when I’m gone, alone she’ll bow.
She’ll need get by . . .I don’t know how.

With this I’ll close my nightly plea.
I’d be forever in debt to thee.
If you would oft stop by this way.
To comfort wife here every day.

Written to honor all the elderly that
Struggle with their health, their obligations,
their present & their future.

What If a Bedtime Poem For Kids

What If?

What if guppies and goldfish could swim through the air?
What if birds could only relax by sitting in a chair?

What if spider webs looked like charming bungalows?
What if cheese sticks had to be hunted out in the jungle-os?

What if curtains were carefully hung up in the Maple trees?
What if cookies only came from buzzing little bees?

What if horses were allowed to take rides on our backs?
What if skateboards could take a ride on the rail road tracks?

What if Saturdays came more than just once a week?
What if at your birthday presents you could take a peek?

What if alligators played music every time they’d sneeze?
What if teachers taught Algebra to the chimpanzees?

What if delicious gumballs grew out in the yard?
What if scoring soccer goals wasn’t all that hard?

What if arching rainbows were something you could touch?
What if with each of the colors you could skip Double Dutch?

What if the medicine that the doctor gave you tasted like ice cream?
What if you and your best friend could go to sleep and dream the same dream?

What if all of these things were completely true?
It wouldn’t matter at all to me because I would still love you.

Now I Lay Me

Now I lay these tired eyes to sleep,
Oh Lord,
could you watch over me?

God, could you Bless my family and friends,
as I slumber here, in my cozy bed?

One more thing,
then enough here, being said!

Until the night turns into the light,
then I'll wake,
and the world will seem bright.

And Lord, I love you; I wanted you to know?

It's that time now;
turn off the lights and this show.

Good Night!

Bedtime At "ike and Jane's " Sequence 5

Hi folks. The name's Ike.
'Member me from my other writes?
check 'em out if you'd like.

Me and the Missus, Jane here, jest wanted to say hey.
Jane, she ses I oughta tell you good folks how I pray.
She thought it might be a help to one a ya some day.

Now ya see most everybody prays the way they sees fit.
That's just fine 'ceptin' in the mornin'..well, see.. I fergit.
Way back, a friend name 'a Wally hepped me on that score a bit,
And since then, in the mornin', I aint hardly never fergit.

See at night I got no problem thankin' God with the Missus,
then it's bedtime and we gits in our hugs and kisses.
We tuck in her kitty cats and then we hit the hay.
As I said in the mornin' when I got up I'd fergit ta pray.

So at night when I drop my britches on the floor,
I kick my shoes up under the bed behind 'em,
so when I wakes up in the mornin' after a good snore,
well, I gotsta git down on my knees ta find 'em!

And whil'st I'm on my knees, I 'member somethin', Hoss,
Right 'bout then, I 'member that I ain't the Boss.
So then I ask Him ta help me do what He wants that day,
and 'cause He's Merciful and Good, He helps me that way.

...Z'at what you wanted me to say, my darlin' Missus?
Reckon so ..cause she.. gimme a couple 'a kisses.
               Nite nite, darlin'...
               and to you folks too!
               God bless y'all..

Bedtime Dreams

Grandfather Time,
Fail not by being cruel.
Only a small child,
Harmless & true.
Keep her heart pure,
And her soul far from blue.
Heaven's quilts,
See to this truth,
Wrap her firmly in charity.
Little girl awaits,
Life moments are really in Your Palm Figuretips.
Love letters passed into the hands of future to vision.
She stands by the seashore edge.
Never casting the bottle message in the journey begin.
Only to take it home,
Under her mattress,
Slumbering the nights away.
Waken up by the lumpingness,
Never-ending smiles of joy.
Her dreams remain,
Reminding her in broken sleep.

Lying there, serenely, after a warm jasmined bath,
The thought hit me, what if I never again do awake?
Just wide eyed in heaven’s home to joyfully partake!

I awoke to live in eternal love with good and not wrath.
Now existingin a realm with God, not one of mortal men.
To constantly whisper, I am finally here, with joy and Amen!

I set my now young feet on clouds, God’s floor mats!
The joy of having an everlasting young and new body!
In exchange for thie old one that was worn and shoddy.

To be living in His world, a dream come true, so glorious!
Experiencing my breathless, inexpressable ultimate joy,
Of coming to serve my blessed Creator, now I am victorious!

Heaven was never meant to be a continuation of life on earth.
With awe and joy, I was given keys to my own heavenly home.
My only job, to serve Him and with joy, to never roam!

My brain is wound,
my thinker is down,
and I am bedroom bound.

My day is done,
gone is the sun,
and I am bedroom bound.

Bedtime Stories

Narrating breaths,
Tell the story of love.
Deep...inhales of desire,
Caress the long exhales of passion.

Warm flesh tales read,
Verbalized by each soft breath.
Paragraphs of Goosebumps,
Traced and translated by the tongue.

The taste of smooth ivory skin,
Satisfies...midnight cravings.
As her ardent veins,
Throb with excitement...beckoning,
The initiation of our nightly chapters.

Small one
Playing is done
And your bedtime has come.
Wind is moaning
rafters shifting.
Listen.
Inside closets
ghosts are sniffing.
Dare not move. Dream you fly.
Sun in your eye
Morning.

... but then I see those inquiring eyes, that familiar look:
my brother wants me to tell him a story.
"It's way past your bedtime, you're just gonna doze!"
As he begs incessantly, "Pretty please, please,"

My brother wants me to tell him a story:
the one with the dragon and the king.
As he begs incessantly, "Pretty please, please,"
Until finally I just give in.

"The one with the dragon, and the king,
the pretty princess, and the slimy frog!"
Until finally I just give in
(as usual he's passed out like a log)

"The pretty princess and the slimy frog!"
"It's way past your bedtime, you're just gonna doze!"
As usual he's passed out like a log,
but then I see those inquiring eyes, that familiar look.

Bedtime Loving

(ohw! ohw! ohwwwww!)
The wolves are out tonight.
“Tread lightly”, echoes father’s words,
“and stay clear of their sight”.

Excited by, my first hallo
to stars and moon so bright.
Excited him allowing me,
to come out on this night.
Caref’ly, had I listened to,
the lessons that he gave.
In underground my classroom
had I sat and well-behaved.

Now here, amongst the shrubbery
my small heart pounding proud.
Near the husky voices of,
the wolves in packs so loud.
Silently, on hinds we rise,
with noses in the air.
Detecting in, which way they’ll path,
not tempting to go there.

Crossing the bridge at Hunters Lane;
father leading way.
And there, under the bright moonlight,
we scout our waiting prey.
“Tread lightly”, echoes father’s words,
“and stay clear of their sight”.
Once home;
upon our rodent dish,
my first true trophy won.

Small eyes now flutter sleep.
My father heart so proud.
“Tread lightly”, echoes father’s words.
I blow the candle out.

Bedtime

Ho, Kitty! Now is the bedtime!
No more time to play!
Even now you try to make poop on my face!
