Best Appointments Poems
Reminders we are not finite
Lest we should forget
Time tends to stop and hover
Undetectable
In a slow motion whirl
Caught in an endless loop
Like a 45 record that skips
It’s a typical phenomena
In all hospital waiting rooms
A soupy silence so very palpable
Contemplating the meaning of life
And what is left of it
Prisoner caught in a time warp
While life goes on outside this window

Oh doctor my wife won’t you see
I think she is cheating on me
Said doctor to fuss
Of course I’ll discuss
She’ll be with me just after three
water flowing
i move not
unfortunate that i will have to leave quickly
i think about all that are no longer here
the water's sound eases my mind like it knows
i move not
unfortunate that life and time waits for nobody's nothin'
i think about being late
i think about not showing up
i think about those ugly ole ramifications
water flowing
humbled, i move now
i reluctantly get in my temperamentally mental car and hesitatingly depart
To Forget Appointments
Even if in a beautiful car or riding a bike
To forget appointments would you like
I had left reminder on the vestibule
And now they will have to re-schedule.
We really never know quite for sure
How much a dentist does have to endure
While a patient passes their time away
Down South where you do it everyday.
I also have heard some people say
In mind, may be areas which are gray
With luck when looking for four leaf clover
With each opportunity must look all over.
In long physical life each part has a phase
Grow older and do end up getting in a daze
And after your whole mind you finally fill
Is when you forever will become forgetful.

PS. Did I forget and leave something out?
CANCEL ALL MY APPOINTMENTS!!!
CALL WORK
TELL THEM I JUST FEEL TOO GOOD
TO WASTE IT ON THEM
WAKE THE KIDS
WE’RE GOING OUT FOR BREAKFAST
CALL THE SCHOOL
TELL THEM DAD JUST DECLARED
A “MENTAL HEALTH DAY”
GET DRESSED
WE’RE GONNA GO PLAY
NO BACKPACKS
NO BRIEF CASES
NO TOOL BELTS
JUST US……
AND A DAY
APPROPRIATED
FOR THE MAKING
OF MEMORIES

When we were young we’d go for weeks
And nary a doctor we’d see.
But now that our senior years have arrived
Seems that hardly a moment is free.
Appointments accumulate day after day -
It’s hard to keep them all straight.
The dates and the times all mix in my head –
Is tomorrow my eyes or my weight?
My calendar says my dentist I’ll see -
'Twas Friday I’m sure that he said –
But his office just called to tell me - oh no!
I should be there this morning instead.
The heart doctor wants me on Tuesday PM,
The same day I’m due for a scan.
The neurologist gave me a change in my date
To a day that I have other plans.
Although I’m aware that my age is advanced
I’m still walking and feeling just fine.
So why am I in this ridiculous state?
Maybe your guess is better than mine!
Unwanted visits
long wait in filled waiting room
five minutes in room
