What doesnt kill you makes you stronger

Remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Don't stop believing in the strength that lies inside, get up, stand up until you can stand no longer. You gotta be strong against the fools who misguide. Don't stop believing in the strength that lies inside, ain’t no mountain high enough to prevent your fall. You gotta be strong against the fools who misguide, rise like a skyscraper, you’re beautiful - stand tall. Ain’t no mountain high enough to prevent your fall. You get knocked down, find the strength to get up again. Rise like a skyscraper, you’re beautiful - stand tall. What a Feeling when you fly high like an air plane. You get knocked down, find the strength to get up again. Shout: "It's my life." Spread your wings to escape the cage. What a Feeling when you fly high like an air plane. Your lust for life will have those who hate watch in rage. Shout: "It's my life." Spread your wings to escape the cage. Each teardrop that was shed has now drifted away. Your lust for life will have those who hate watch in rage. Be happy, keep smiling, don't let your heart decay. Each teardrop that was shed has now drifted away. Control your emotions to have a perfect day. Be happy, keep smiling, don't let your heart decay. Don't ask: "Where is the love." It's in your heart to stay. Control your emotions to have a perfect day. What a wonderful world, don't worry be happy! Don't ask: "Where is the love." It's in your heart to stay. Always look on the bright side of life - be zappy! What a wonderful world, don't worry be happy! Get up, stand up until you can stand no longer. Always look on the bright side of life - be zappy! Remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Silent One Written on 5 July 2016.
A pantoum with 12 syllables per line. Using inspirational song titles picked randomly. Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) – Kelly Clarkson Don’t Stop Believing – Journey Get up Stand up – Bob Marley You Gotta Be – Des Ree Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell Skyscraper – Demi Lovato You’re Beautiful – James Blunt Tubthumping – Chumbawumba Walking on Sunshine – Katrina and the Waves What a Feeling – Irene Cara It’s My Life – Bon Jovi Lust For Life – Iggy Pop Teardrop – Massive Attack Happy - Pharrell Williams Perfect Day – Lou Reed Where is the Love? – Black Eyed Peas Don’t Worry be Happy – Bobby McFerrin What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong Always Look on the Bright Side of Life – Monty Python Pantoum poem A rare form of poetry. It is composed of a series of quatrains; the second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. This pattern continues for any number of stanzas, except for the final stanza, which differs in the repeating pattern. The first and third lines of the last stanza are the second and fourth of the penultimate; the first line of the poem is the last line of the final stanza, and the third line of the first stanza is the second of the final. Ideally, the meaning of lines shifts when they are repeated although the words remain exactly the same: this can be done by shifting punctuation, punning, or simply contextualising. It does not have to rhyme nor have a syllable restriction

I Believe

I believe that the sun shines after the rain
I believe if you don't get hurt you'll never gain
I believe in not doing things the easy way
I believe that being selfish doesn’t pay

I believe in a second chance
I believe in a life long romance
I believe there is life after death
And standing up to a life of mess

I believe in love at first sight
I believe that revenge isn’t right
I believe that first impressions last
And there is nothing better then a good laugh

I believe that dreams do come true
I believe there's destiny for me and you
I believe that good things come to those who wait
I believe love never arrives too late

I believe something good comes from something bad
I believe that for tears of happiness there are tears of sad
I believe everyone has a guardian angel
And the good you do will be rewarded well

I believe sometimes there is no explanation
I believe money can't buy people's affection
I believe you don't know what you've got until it's gone
I believe a new day arrives with every dawn

I believe a smile can be contagious
I believe in being very outrageous
I believe in living with no regrets
I believe that life is as good as it gets

I believe that God watches over us
I believe the little things are worth the fuss
I believe you have each friend for a reason
I believe you will get punished for treason

I believe that what comes first is family
I believe we should all live in harmony
I believe in making the most of a beautiful day
And it's not the end until everything's okay

I believe absence makes the heart grow fonder
I believe you will lose if you sit and wonder
I believe every experience teaches you a lesson
And nothing cures better then a drinking session

I believe everyone has one true love
I believe sometimes we need a little shove
I believe the whole world is a stage
I believe we only get better with age

I believe that to learn you have to live
I believe that to love someone you have to give
I believe one moment can change your life
And there's still help when you’re in strife

I believe everyone has one true friend
I believe love helps a broken heart mend
I believe in the power of a song
And things will change before too long

I believe living is the best experience
I believe in not laughing at other people’s expense
I believe it’s hard to watch a lover leave
And when they’re gone all you can do is breath

I believe to always look on the bright side
I believe that life is just one big ride
I believe when I die people will grieve
But it’s ok because I believe

Chuckles, Giggles, And Guffaws

Chuckles, giggles and guffaws That's the only way to fly Find silliness in all everyday things Tears of joy will fill your eyes In fact if you're not careful You'll infect your fellow man Before you can say "pink panties" Lunies will be running the land Now wait a minute let me see They already are I'm afraid They resemble a flock of turkeys Look at the mess they've made We pay them scads of money To perform their comedic routine That won't change any time soon So enjoy your plate of poutine* Always look on the bright side of life Things have got to get better So why not try to enjoy yourself And just carry on unfettered © Jack Ellison 2015

Even On The Darkest Day

Even on your darkest day You can still find reason to smile Old sol is shining somewhere The dark's only here for a while Sadness never sticks around It usually comes and goes Bright days are bound to follow So let the good times roll Always look on the bright side A much happier place to be Take a page from the little folks Always laughing always free No future in singing sad songs They usually just bring you down Go around with a great big grin Play the part of a clown Even on your darkest day Spread joy whenever you can Share it with everyone you meet A guaranteed fail proof plan! © Jack Ellison 2013

Chuckles, Giggles, And Guffaws

Chuckles, giggles and guffaws
That's the only way to fly
Find silliness in all everyday things
Tears of joy will fill your eyes

In fact if you're not careful
You'll infect your fellow man
Before you can say "pink panties"
Loonies will be running the land

Now wait a minute let me see
They already are I'm afraid
They resemble a flock of turkeys
Look at the mess they've made

We pay them scads of money
To perform their comedic routine
That won't change any time soon
So enjoy your plate of poutine

Always look on the bright side of life
Things have got to get better
So why not try to enjoy yourself
And just carry on unfettered

Will Power

Some days are diamonds Some days aren't that great After many many years on this planet Earth I've discovered attitude makes a huge difference This WILL be a good day because I WILL it to be WILLing it CAN make it so Where there's a WILL, there's a way An old saying but it still holds true today We must always look on the bright side of life Days of sadness are unavoidable But can be made less formidable by one's attitude As we age, those things that were so very important No longer have the same relevance Our outlook on live is much more relaxed Much more like 'WHATEVER!” It's really too bad this feeling can't be achieved While we're young To enjoy while we still have many years ahead of us I guess I should practice what I preach Because today is not turning out to be a good one But my WILL and ATTITUDE to survive WILL see me through © Jack Ellison 2014

The humanist funeral

The coffin is draped in the national flag
A mix of people who are happy and sad
This is a testament to the humanist stand
Welcome to a humanist funeral.

"Always look on the bright side of life"
Is played through the speakers to make you smile
We're told he was "loving and good and kind"
This was his humanist funeral.

There'll be a beer at the end of the meeting
His legacy given to all as a greeting
A cheer up after your tears you'll be needing
After the humanist funeral.

The only thing spoken is what is the past
Nothing of hope and the things that will last
Logic expressed from the evolutionary blast
That is preached at the humanist funeral.

All of his friends have had a say
Of good times of the past that came his way
The coffin leaves to the tune of "my way"
How sad the humanist funeral.

Jack Ellison

"If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing!"
-Always Look On the Bright Side of Life by Eric Idle, from Monty Python

Words that come to mind when I think of this incredible man— Kind, hilarious, loving, humble, silly, cute, utterly inspiring and true, He makes everyone’s day no matter how gloomy or blue! I admit, I fall hard into the pessimist’s pity potty, Sometimes just struggling at the surface of many hot tears, But this guy, he gently cleans the filth I accumulate with his words, And with vivid colors only his strength can conjure, He sketches a perfect rainbow on my hefty clouds on high It is difficult to fathom how inspired I am by this remarkable poet He is human like the rest of us, of course, but my, He is as immortal to me as mortal can get He will live forever in my heart with his golden words, His sweet smile and his priceless, unfussy rhymes Truly he deserves all the happiness in the world… My heart goes out to you, Jack Ellison My beloved poet, always, and forever Your friendship means the world to me, And you will not be leaving this heart, Not ever, ever!!!

My Better Half

You are the anchor that holds me in place
Without you my life would be just an empty space
You are my strength when I grow weak
Inspiration I draw from comforting words you speak

I find solace in your arms when I want to cry
When I'm feeling down, you lift my spirits up high
When I'm troubled, you have a listening ear
I turn to you because I know you will hear

In my darkest days you always look on the bright side
You see right through me, there's nothing I can hide
Your warm hugs and kisses lets me know it will be all right
That makes me want to love you more with all my might

A day without you would be a day not worth living
I write this poem as a token of my love and thanksgiving
Howe blessed I am to have someone as wonderful as you
In every way, you are all my dreams come true

Who Loves Life

Those who love life, put up your hands
Now let me see, hey you in the back
Don't just sit there like a bump on a log
You're either with us or against us, mac!

You gotta grab life by the proverbial horns
And wrestle it down to the ground
Gotta stomp on it and show it who's boss
Ain't nothing gonna push you around!

Now that's the stuff, I'm hearing you roar
Like you're catching the spirit now
Let's all go out and celebrate life
Let's romp through the fields with the cows!

Okay, maybe that's a bit much for you
But I think you're catching my meaning
Think positive always look on the bright side
Even though your bod may be leaning!

Those who love life, put up your hands
Don't be shy, it's an honour to know you
Together we can show all those naysayers
We'll chase away those nasty blues!

LUCK

I am lucky, yes lucky and gay.
I am happy, yes happy all day.
Sunshine they call me.
That is my name.
I shine, just the same.

Nothing can harm me.
Cos, I'm lucky you see.
If things are down.
Do not frown.
Look for the silver lining.
Up, not down.

Always look, on the bright side.
Things could be worse, you know.
Say, I don't care.
Let it show, everywhere.

Luck will return to you, one day.
You will be happy again, you may.
If you smile and say.
Go away, to the bad, to-day.

Open wide your window.
Let the sunshine in.
Think of all the good things.
That will happen to-day,
Let not that gremlin.
Spoil your day.
You decide, how to play.

I want to lift the cloud.
From your head,
Make you happy instead.
Tell me what I can do?
To make you happy too.

If you comment on this poem.
In a nice way.
I will change your luck for you.
Forever to stay.

My Favorite Song -Always Look on the Bright Side

It's a wonder how we get through life's start
with tears flowing from the first depart
but still we take that breath and bravely forge ahead,
wondering what we could have done instead.
We cry, we shudder and we laugh,
  we eat, we grow and pass a little gas;
we study and we learn then easily forget
just what the purpose of it all was, and yet -
we search for it, hold it briefly in our hands
  grasping for love to be near where we stand;
but so quickly does the time flow steal it all away
and the past seems nothing but a game we played.
Hold on tight, you never know what is to come
  perhaps the journey's just begun.

It's the only way to, you know!
My favorite funny reality song of all time.

An eternal optimist I am, one day closer to spring Hey, it ain't a lie, always look on the bright side of things Could be a lot worse Could be riding in a hearse Little things count like the sound in your pocket of ching-a-ling
