As the men of the great sea carry me
Assuring them of safe travel on water
Courage and serenity are given free
Am restless anxiety adjuster

Feel so soft smooth as nestled in pocket
Look deeply into my pale blue colors
Ye men of wide sea who wear bluejacket
Those who my purpose are sure acceptors

How my healing powers strength your heart
Throat, spleen, immune system, mouth, ears, breating
Offering protection for journey chart
Constantly in your pocket safely abiding

Mental, emotional, physical
Aquamarine polished smooth possible alchemy

You're going to need all the courage you can muster
He'll smile you to death

Dedicated to my good friend, The Wulf Man!

Caffeine

Chemically: crystalline carbon compound
Commonly consumed as coffee, Coke
Choices? Consider chocolate
Craziness careens corners

Attitude and attention adjuster
Autumn afternoon activator
Accelerated activities
Ask another altruistic answerable

Fathoming fatherhood
Folgers: fresh or frozen
Foolish frolicking
Fickle frazzled frog

Favorite flavor?
French fanilla (fun!)
Famous for flying
Fan for “FREEDOM!!”

Endurance enhancer
E’erlasting elixir
Endocrine epoxic effects
Essayist endorser

I, internal igniter
Interestingly included
In iced infusions
Imagine: ignorance imploded

Nosy noisy neighbors
Night-time ne’er-ender
Negative nightmares…
Nice neanderthal!

Everyone’s elated
Elliptical epiphany!
Elephants eat evergreens!
Ellipsis

Premium Member An Autumn Tale

Autumn with all the metaphors I can muster
The beauty of the season and it's golden luster
The raking of leaves
And cleaning of eaves
And my annual trip to the back adjuster

Inspiration

Tony Kushner wrote plays as a telephone operator,
Kafka wrote stories at night after working as an insurance adjuster,
Grisham penned court room dramas religiously for three years before
being published.

These playwrights and novelists and poets,
Lived a dual existence-

By day,
They lived an ordinary existence,
Maintaining a 9-5 or overnight shifts
While balancing obligations like
family, grocery shopping, taxes, rent or mortgage
friends, bills, lovers

At night,
Undercover,
In their precious time-

They were on a lonely, thankless journey,
Only their desk, the lamp and their pen and paper/typewriter/computer
 as company,
Communing with their muse,

Creating, Rewriting, editing, repeat

Telling stories for the mere pleasure, to satisfy an
Incurable hunger for their words, thoughts, voices

To be expressed, considered, read,

Without the guarantee of money, fame, recognition or success..

I remember them when verse rushes through my mind
like an angry, swollen April river,
That I forget the words as quickly as I conceive them,
or I compose long winded poems
with no direction, shape or grace.

I remember them when procrastination and writer’s block
Prevents me from writing for days, months or years,
or when I hear that my high school nemesis is a doctoral
Candidate in poetry

I remember and thank them for giving my inspiration
To continue.

Acoa

the Adult Children of Alcoholics
educated me a lot on my life
I have seen plenty of alcoholics
growing up with it stabs you like a knife

I once read in a book what certain traits
children of alcoholics developed
being an adjuster in life relates
seems like my life was underdeveloped

I would just go with the flow with no word
looking back on my life I know it’s true
I was never the one to wear a sword
all this because dad drank way too much brew

Dad is dead family is still coping
we have all done our own way of doping

Memories

My old sweet dog
tangled with fog
and ate like a hog

Old dear Buster
quiet and adjuster
who gave me a fluster

he left in such a hurry
I would do anything to feel that furry
dog, in my memory, blurry

If you could see the sorrow
would you borrow
my heart and come back tomorrow

I don't care what they say
memories replay
I my head, oh take me away

So now goodbye
I tried not to cry
but you held my emoition supply

Windfall

The vortex dropped as it crossed the lake
and lifted the water in its wake.
Stunned, we ran into the hall
and waited for the roof to fall.

How odd it was, we heard no sound,
as giant oaks crashed to the ground,
We heard no sound of breaking glass,
in merely seconds, it had passed.

In shock and awe, we crept outside,
and viewed the twister's homicide,
great trees were broken, snapped like sticks,
so much damage, done so quick.

The adjuster came and viewed the wreck,
and then he started writing checks.
He gave us more for our old car
than we had even bought it for.

He gave us money for junk in the yard,
that we had been ready to discard.
We fixed the roof, paid the yard guys,
and had money left over to our surprise.

We got a new car, the most beautiful 'Vette,
and managed to pay off some of our debt.
Our car note is less than the old one was,
this tragedy was a gift from above.

Both figuratively and literally, it was a windfall
and we can only stand enthralled,
So it's true all clouds have a silver lining,
and God's love is true, in darkness shining.

Premium Member What Might Have Been

Piles of regrets gather dust in draws,
If only I had a feather duster.
How often fleeting chances missed,
If only dares, like mares I could muster.
Perhaps I should flip a coin to decide,
If chance to 'might be' blockbuster
Pops up like a billboard flashing by,
With 'play me right now' life adjuster.
Multiple worlds, multiple stories await,
Those that fire the ejector thruster
To leap into windows of opportunities,
Smashing glass to land a gangbuster.

I come from a small town named Shuster,
my father was the property tax adjuster.
He was always working late,
Toward him was much hate.
so when queried on taxes he’d filibuster.

I think the best attitude adjuster
is a stick and not a feather duster.
  The lunatic left tried
  and were duly denied
but it’s time to nuke the filibuster!

Drum Rolls

I put up a fight:
A daring battle
Of love's delight,
Proud fears, rattle...

But when drum rolls...
Hopeful care consoles
My daring aim unsettled.

A pair still to play,
Warming up for game.
Two paths before us lay:
A path to victory; other to shame.

But when drum rolls...
Courage meets controls,
My anxiety becomes settled.

How should we start?
At a distance together,
Or of just, closely apart
Forever against weather.

But when drum rolls...
Puzzle sets on patrols
To parade memories behind.

Deal yet be accepted,
Fate yet to decide...
Persuasion intercepted,
Where considerations reside.

But when drum rolls...
Regrets set off goals,
Against time long mind.

Sunshine or rain?
Choose one now,
Don't wait in vain...
Before sealed to vow.

But when drum rolls...
Arsenal binds our souls,
Maybe right or wrong choice.

This is a booster,
A common in us.
Though an adjuster,
To keep silent, fuss!

But when drum rolls...
Check my written scrolls
Your eyes evidently rejoice.

Blue, Red

(Overheard at an Ecopsyche
Workshop)

The blue pill
Or as we like to call it,
“The self-with-nature seminar,”
Allows one to
Walk in fairly unkept woods
Surprisingly unaided
But regularly looked-after by an Eco-adjuster
Herself a blue pill graduate
And certificate holder.
You also receive
An animal mask
A booklet of
Fire ring songs
Plus, tips on how be a
Tacky-Tack eco-influencer.
You might even get the courage to say
Out loud:
“Corporations be damned!”
No side effects have been reported.

The red pill,
Our
“Cynic in the woods advanced program”
Will make you frothing-at-the-mouth-mad
Overflowing with eco anxiety
And as obstinate-uncompromising
As
Greta
Tintin
Eleonora
Ernman
Thunberg.
You’ll likely be arrested.
You might even lose
University tenure
And be on many ‘no-fly’ lists.
You’ll wake every morning
Knowing that you have not done enough
To save the planet.

“What’ll it be?”
“Two blues please.”

Handsome Day

To you I give rhymes,
From different reasoning lifetimes...
That cost mind nighttimes

To offer the best;
Free of lyrical contest,
Beyond mere interest.

Now, it is time's way...
To lead on a brighter day,
That finds nice display-

Step by step, with all
It takes not to ever fall...
Even at nightfall

Before been too late,
To improve steps world's trials fate,
Leaping far its gait...

A day of goodwill,
That set standards on God's will:
Righteousness fulfill

For friends even foes,
Like what friendly strangers pose...
That's way world enclose

But gives kind gesture...
To tell you- good adjuster,
In life's adventure.
