PRISONER OF LOVE

No goodbye tears
Tell me it’s a nightmare
Rock away my fears
Because nobody cares
The feelings were so strong
I felt so cold and alone
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Is that really true I wonder than I ponder
A broken arrow
A broken vow
The unseen umbilical chord was cut
Afterwards I knew what was up
Where we kissed and spoke of tomorrow
Places that now bring me only sorrow
Our past and loving memories were shattered
Each precious memory now scattered
Remorse and sorrow fill my days
Now its my time to pray
Still, I wish for the happiness and pleasure
True love I do treasure
I've been a prisoner, can't you see?
Break my chains and set me free.
With me; our friendship has become a part
Of my world now; it has its special place,
Within my being, life, and in my heart,

I Believe

I believe that the sun shines after the rain
I believe if you don't get hurt you'll never gain
I believe in not doing things the easy way
I believe that being selfish doesn’t pay

I believe in a second chance
I believe in a life long romance
I believe there is life after death
And standing up to a life of mess

I believe in love at first sight
I believe that revenge isn’t right
I believe that first impressions last
And there is nothing better then a good laugh

I believe that dreams do come true
I believe there's destiny for me and you
I believe that good things come to those who wait
I believe love never arrives too late

I believe something good comes from something bad
I believe that for tears of happiness there are tears of sad
I believe everyone has a guardian angel
And the good you do will be rewarded well

I believe sometimes there is no explanation
I believe money can't buy people's affection
I believe you don't know what you've got until it's gone
I believe a new day arrives with every dawn

I believe a smile can be contagious
I believe in being very outrageous
I believe in living with no regrets
I believe that life is as good as it gets

I believe that God watches over us
I believe the little things are worth the fuss
I believe you have each friend for a reason
I believe you will get punished for treason

I believe that what comes first is family
I believe we should all live in harmony
I believe in making the most of a beautiful day
And it's not the end until everything's okay

I believe absence makes the heart grow fonder
I believe you will lose if you sit and wonder
I believe every experience teaches you a lesson
And nothing cures better then a drinking session

I believe everyone has one true love
I believe sometimes we need a little shove
I believe the whole world is a stage
I believe we only get better with age

I believe that to learn you have to live
I believe that to love someone you have to give
I believe one moment can change your life
And there's still help when you’re in strife

I believe everyone has one true friend
I believe love helps a broken heart mend
I believe in the power of a song
And things will change before too long

I believe living is the best experience
I believe in not laughing at other people’s expense
I believe it’s hard to watch a lover leave
And when they’re gone all you can do is breath

I believe to always look on the bright side
I believe that life is just one big ride
I believe when I die people will grieve
But it’s ok because I believe

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Been said many many times
But I'm about as fond as I could be
Methinks I've proved it just fine

So don't need none of that absence stuff
Do you catch my drift as they say
I'll permit it for maybe an hour or so
But that's it and certainly not for a day

There's a very severe penalty you must pay
Should you exceed the allotted limit
A basic one hundred kisses and hugs
Plus another twenty-five more per minute

That might seem like a real hefty fine
But it's there to shown you how serious
It is to deprive this depraved old soul
He can wind up disoriented and delirious

Bottom line is, please handle with care
My kind doesn't come along often
Treat me well and I'll be yours for life
I'll make your heart melt and soften

Absence

Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Missing you for longer and longer

Deathly afraid my heart may burst
You may love me best...I love you worst

The One

The first time we met he looked right past me, didn’t notice the breath almost escape my chest. didn’t notice how I was jumping into conversations and laughing shyly at a joke he didn’t even make, but he was shaped like my dreams and looked like my future husband, I am going to make him the one.

so who cares that he didn’t give me a good night call, or how he missed every moment to miss me, I am grown enough to miss myself everytime that feeling of being loved should creep in. the distant glance in his eyes whenever I am around is nothing more than a perfectly crafted concept of “absence makes the heart grow fonder”, besides he resides within the depths of my soul.

Ill feed him with my very pride, strip it off my back lay it bare on a sunday night knocking on his door because a way to a man’s heart is through a women’s low self esteem. My hands shaking at a mere thought of the key turning for attention, I mean I know how he does not like surprises.

My path to happiness reaching a crossroad, his face pasted on the signage that reads Mr wrong, in the distance he sits on a throne, shooting my efforts in his mouth like porcon, a sign that he acknowledges my mere existence. I carve the word “right” with my blood and pour sweat on all my wishes.

Good girls don’t give up and strong woman must endure to one day feel a fraction of the love they deserve, I’ll turn this one to the one no matter how much tears drip from my broken heart.

WHEN YOUR GONE

They say home is where the heart is but for me that isn’t true
Because my heart is out there somewhere,
Riding along with you……
When you’re gone.

Well every now and then you’re on the road again
But I know I have the strength within to carry on
Because my love for you is strong and I know that you won’t be gone that long.
Well I can’t wait for you to come home, cause home is where you belong
And I know you left your heart for me to hold when you are gone……..

So when you’re gone……
I won’t disappoint you,
When you’re gone……..
I won’t let you down,
And when you’re gone……..
I promise to you baby,
I’ll never fool around……..
When you’re gone…….

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder
For me I know that isn’t true, cause I don’t think I could love you more,
More than I already do…..
When you’re gone……

Well every now and then you’re on the road again
But I know I have the strength within to carry on
Because my love for you is strong and I know that you won’t be gone that long.
Well I can’t wait for you to come home, cause home is where you belong
And I know you left your heart for me to hold when you are gone……..

So when you’re gone……
I won’t disappoint you,
When you’re gone……..
I won’t let you down,
And when you’re gone……..
I promise to you baby,
I’ll never fool around……..
When you’re gone…….

They say our hearts come together, a little at a time
And one of these days you’re going to be, right hereby my side,
And I’ll wait for you every morning, morning, noon and night…….
When you’re gone……..

Because my heart is out there somewhere, riding along with you…….
When you’re gone…………

Missing you

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder,
But babe I don't think I can take it much longer.
I miss your touch your laugh the way you smile,
Cheer up baby I'll be home in a little while.
I hate being away miles apart,
U coming here in a hurry would be smart
When I away from you I feel get opposite of strong,
When I left I didn't know it'd be this long.
I want to fall to my knees pout and cry,
I'm not a little baby I just hate saying Bye.
Those three small letters are very terrible things,
Hey is much better it makes my heart sing!
Being apart from you is like losing apart of myself,
I'd pick you over having any sort of wealth.
I love you so much I am ready to see you,
Ready for you to hold me and say 'I love you too'

Hers To Stay

my first love, my high school sweet and shy girlfriend.
a feeling never felt before, I prayed it wouldn’t ever end.

the drive-in movies, the carnivals, we did them all in style,
I had no car, to see her, I walked more than a mile.

as years went by, after we wed, the arguments began.
I tried my best to calm the waves, but shattered was my plan.

now on the restless sea, tuna fishing in the hunting season.
I left her in Ohio, I had to leave, I had a single reason.

to see if absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they always say,
I don’t know who “they” are, but in my case it’s just a bad cliche.

months have passed and homeward bound, It’s hard to hide this feeling,
that hopefully she has missed me badly, and we can start the healing.

nowhere to be found, I read the note that felt sharp as a knife,
she wants divorce, she’s with someone, she’s starting a new life.

living in Montana, a rancher now her new found love,
I must not haste to find her, this pain I must now rise above.

what can I say when it’s all over?, give me another chance?
no, when it has died, it’s hard to wake a dead romance.

time has slowly passed, the years have been unkind,
lines upon my face, my fate could well be signed.

one thing I know is true, I had the best years of my life,
to know that once, I had a young and loving wife.

the story is not yet over, the search is not yet done,
someone may walk into my life, and claim me for the one,

the one who’s more than ready, to give my faithful heart,
to someone who will stay, when things may fall apart.

if by chance a new love will be made, in some old fashioned way,
she can count on me, count on the years I will be hers to stay.

Tale of a Broken Heart that isn't all Broken

He killed me.
No, he is killing me.

With every kind word about *her* he stabs a knife into mine.

He mustn't know.

I put on a happy face. A smile that is fake transparent.

He mustn't know how he is killing me.

The tears overflow my heart, but I keep them in. No one can know.

Cold.

Stoic.

Heartsick.

Perhaps I deserve this pain....I hurt him first. It seems fair that he do it to me with good measure.

That he make me suffer and bleed.

He mustn't know how much he is killing me.

However, I'm not broken. I'm shattered.

He is just making my pieces of smaller; harder to put together again....

Will he touch her with my blood on his hands?

Will he love her?

Will *she* love him?

I guess "absence makes the heart grow fonder" is just a load of crap.

I just didn't think it'd hurt this much when he's with someone else.

It felt good to kiss him again, he said he liked it. But.....

He kills me again. It's a good thing emotional blood is invisible,
because I am covered in it.

How do I perfect the brick wall surrounded by steel on my heart? Behind my eyes?

He can bring me to life, but he kills me. Even though we aren't together,
he still holds my heart in his hands.

I don't think he realizes it.

If he ever will.

And now I am laying in a puddle of my own blood- my heart
ripped out and beating across the room.
I'm still alive because it hasn't been crushed.

I'm alive because my shadow hasn't been ripped away from me.

Sometimes it's hard to be stoic....hard to be cold
when the tears want so bad to spill over and mix with my blood that's on the floor.

I don't think he knows how I can feel my heart swell as it breaks. How heartsick I am.

He knows I care. He doesn't know how much...

I am dead.

He's killed me

I don't think I can be more dead than this, now I am just a shell until I breathe again

With him, my heart beats and is back in my body

He is mine.

My Akri.

My one.

The one who can break my heart because he holds the knife in his hand.

But if he wants ....I wish him happiness. I wish him love.

All in the world.

I want the best for my Akri.

I....love him.

I Smell Your Perfume On The Breeze

I Smell Your Perfume On The Breeze By Rick Rucker I smell your perfume on the breeze, When we’re apart, nothing can ease My longing for You, most complete, You are, by far, the one most sweet! Although we text, and talk by phone, When I can’t hold you, I feel Alone! Stronger than the strongest drug, You calm my Heart, with just your Hug! I would live my Life under your conscription, If my doctor would write that prescription! But he’s afraid that my Heart can’t take it, Too much of your loving, and I won’t make it! I told him that it’s fine, You are as intoxicating as Wine! He is really worried, He doesn’t want to be hurried, When I told him about the smell of your hair, I lost my balance, nearly fell off the chair, It’s true that absence makes the Heart grow fonder, In my case, it causes my mind to wander! He’s never seen a case like mine, His diagnosis he must refine. “Profound Separation Anxiety,” It sounds like a lot of bull to me! Why can’t he just say, That I miss You every second of the day? I don’t know if my doctor just sucks, Or wants me to return, another hundred bucks! I think I’ll simply take the chance, To be in Love, with You, in Hot Romance!

MISSING

So, the saying is truer “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” When we’ve fallen as lovers We can’t look aback as a loner Time clocks would seem slower Consider every beat by the hour So precious you are We long to be together Distance had become longer Communication gap must not be wider The missing becomes wishing And wishing becomes missing What is there in loving Certainly is your company The intimacy which goes with ecstasy That brought us assuring and trusting Has been mutual, and all odds and dangers Sometimes makes the circumstance graver And the challenges regardless matters No means to counter, rather remember Missing has to be weathered Lest it withers But when finally with each other The temperature’s higher!

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER
I'll put my love to where you lay your eyes
when first they open to the morning skies,
out through the window, look and see,
the light of dawn brings love from me
that's how I'd have you greeted at sunrise.

I'll spread all of my love with morning dew
in hopes you take it where you're going to;
out through the window, look and see,
the morning dew is love from me
and loves the flowers like I'm loving you.

And then I'll put my love to your sunset
so ev'ry evening you will not forget;
out through the window, look and see,
the evening light brings love from me
as surely as it did the day we met.

At night I'll put my love into a star
so you will see my love though I am far
out through the window, look and see,
the star it shines with love from me
until the night I'll be there where you are.

aLwAyS BeLiEvE

Sun shines after the rain
If you never hurt you’ll never gain
Do my best ‘til I’m out of breath
I know there is life after death

I believe there’s second chance
Like a story that full of romance
Standing up in the life that full of mess
I’ll be on the top, no one can guess

Dreams come true
Destiny lies with in you
Anything comes to those who wait
I know it’ll come true and that’s great

Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Nothing will happen if you’ll only sit and wonder
Every experience teaches a lesson
Do everything you can in every season

Today maybe an awful day
I know tomorrow will be okay
Sometimes there’s no explanation
You just have to show your affection

Everything is impossible if you just trust
Live your life as if it’s the last
Most people always in grieve
But it’s okay because I always believe

Long Distance Love

When I returned your ring I sat in confusion, I couldn’t run far enough away to forget you- When I left I didn’t know what I was losing, but I moved across the country for a fresh view. The tears in your eyes I will never forget, as I told you I was leaving the following week- Little did I know my decision I’d always regret, I was just so young, insecure and weak. It didn’t take too long before I realized my heart, it had always been you I’d been in love- My days were hell while we were apart, of all the remorseful tears I had enough. So I flew to you as fast as I ever could, down on bended knee with one white gold ring- I asked you to marry me this time for good, for you were the only one to make my soul sing. We spent months apart until our wedding day, long distance love had brought us closer than ever- But it never took long and I knew right away, eventually we’d be married and together forever. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, far away from you my heart grew ten times- Without you in my arms my soul would wander, and I spent my time writing verses of rhymes. Phone calls all day and late night conversations, revealing more secrets than we thought we shared- Even though it was one of the most difficult situations, we both soon realized how much we truly cared. The wedding day came and we bought a home, finally we were able to sleep in the same bed- No longer were we far away and feeling alone, but lost in each others tender embrace instead. Across the country I found my deep adoration, it will always be you who is the keeper of my heart- Today my life is full of joy and complete celebration, for true love was born from being far apart. Lay down and die

My love for you,
Is so strong & true.
I send you my love,
By using a white dove.
Although you are far away,
On my mind is where you stay.
I can't live with the pain,
Of never seeing you again.
I've heard that absence makes the heart grow fonder,
Thats one thing that makes my love for you grow stronger.
My feelings for you have never been so strong,
Baby, nothing can go wrong.
But if your love for me said goodbye,
It would make me want to lay down & die.

Rose Coloured Glasses

The fading colours in a trembling leaf,
Perhaps a portent of the coming cold,
When the heavy hand of an icy winter
Will press hard upon gully, flat and fold.

The rose’s vicious stems will be laid bare
Making way for the jonquils proud display.
Their sweet perfume partial compensation
For the grey and dreary days here to stay.

The cold sou’westerly wind on icy wings
Will fly over the brow of Mount Misery,
The wintery clouds fleeing before it,
Not daring in unison to mutiny.

The manicured grass of lawns will go brown,
held hostage to the frost of brilliant white.
Hillsides alive with the gold of the wattles
Blazing on the steep green slopes in sunlight.

The tweed collars of brown will be turned up
On every sort of mothballed winter coat.
The rosy red cheeks will beam in defiance,
Yet another colour winter can’t smote.

The grand golden elms of Robertson Park
Will a brittle and brilliant carpet form.
A natural new millionaire’s playground
To which rugged up bustling children are drawn.

There’ll be the loud shrieks of childish laughter,
And tears of despair as fallen leaves fly.
Soon their winter coats will all be soaked through,
With parents wondering how they’ll get them dry.

The elegant green stained spire of Saint Mary’s
Still and silent shows the way through the fog.
Relentlessly pointing to the heavens
With a message for ev’ry man and his dog.

The heavy white winter blanket laying
Along the wandering waters of Cudgegong,
Spills out into town hiding morn’s magpies,
Intent on heralding the dawn with song.

Such are my closely held boyhood memories
Of frostbitten freezing winters ‘back home’.
The view through these rose coloured glasses
Afflicting the reminisces of this poem.

Looking over my shoulder I’m reminded
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.
And I can vouch for the time-honoured truth,
As through the years I have set to wander.

For here I sit in my favourite spot
As the sun shines on this the Queen’s land.
In this pale northern version of winter ,
Where it’s mid May and the weather’s still grand.

Perhaps if I could just make a visit,
Get a taste and then too quickly retreat.
For there is no doubt it would bite hard
After several years of life in this heat.

Still, my children both look at me askance
When I talk fondly of frost, fog and ice.
Of cutting winds, low clouds and warm fireplace,
Oh, to go back there - wouldn’t it be nice!

Patience

Our love for each other has stood the test of time.
I want you to know that you are always on my mind.
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder,
I'm loving you more and more each day, hum I wonder!
I love your expressions of how you feel about me,
You not knowing that you're all I desire see!!
Holding and loving you is what I miss.
More than anything, I miss your sensual kiss!
Always remember that I'm here for you,
Waiting on the Lord to guide us through!!!

Loving Through the Miles

Having loved my first wife from afar
Jean and I lived many miles apart
so we penned letters to each other
every week we wrote from the heart

For a year this carried on
before deciding on a date
then we grew to love each other
before entering the marriage state

You learn so much about each other
in these letters before you meet
truly knowing inside the person
allowing them to sweep you off your feet

As the famous saying aptly tells
absence makes the heart grow fonder
every weekend couldn't come quick enough
for Jean and I our bond grew stronger

So long distance love can work
when the two are a real match
thinking of nobody else near or far
truly loving your one fond catch

(Just to explain Jean and I were married for less than a year before Jean passed away into Her Lord's presence in 1982, I've now been married to Christine now 25 years.)

Fire

Fire

My love is like fire
that burns within my soul.
Full of my own desire
You are my life goal.

No matter what i say
or how mad i may sound.
I love you today,
and I will love you years from now.
My love is forever profound.

If, my love,
I have a tragic end.
I will watch from above
and will still love you then.

Love like it never was
My love will always grow stronger
and i will love that way because
"absence makes the heart grow fonder"

My love is like fire
that burns within my soul
Full of my own desire
You are my life goal.

Sacrifice

As I look at the pictures of my unborn son,
I can’t help but feel guilty that I’ll miss his birth.
We have two other children, this is our last one.
I love them all equally, for everything they’re worth.

I’m in the military and have always been prepared
For the chance to serve my country and do my job.
I’ve never left my family, so we’re a little scared.
As we say our goodbyes, we try hard not to sob.

I grab my bags and gear, board the plane, and fly away.
It’s a very long flight, which gives me time to ponder.
As I sit here and think of all the things I wanted to say,
I remember, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”

Nobody likes the idea of going off to fight in a war,
But that’s the nature of the world in times like this.
There’s always going to be a good cause to fight for,
Like banding together against bad people that exist.

We battle all day against an enemy that’s got nothing to lose,
Who shoot at us with anger, not caring who they kill.
We fight for everything that’s good because we choose
To help rid the world of evil men and their murderous will.

I’ve missed my family and thought of them every day.
I’ve carried their pictures with me no matter where I’d go.
As I lie here dying, I pray for my wife who’s so far away.
I think about my unborn son and a father he’ll never know.

It’s been years since I’ve passed away and I miss my wife.
From above, I’ve watched my son grow into a fine young man.
He placed a plaque at my grave that was the motto of my life.
This is what he wrote; may it help others to understand.

A Soldier’s duty is to protect the innocent and their rights.
Lady Liberty is our backbone and strength, we fight for her.
*”Whether you agree or disagree with the wars we fight,
Since you can use your freedom to protest, thank a Soldier.”

Backwards Thinking

Sometimes how you feel can change as often as the weather
Sometimes out of sight and out of mind don't go together
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder
Perhaps that depends on which thoughts you ponder
With all that happens there is good and bad in everything
To every situation it all depends on what you bring
We all want to come out remembered for good
But we don't always act and speak like we should
The deepest thoughts weigh heavy on our mind
But our biggest worries should be left behind
Whatever you do, don't live in the past
Your present and future move way too fast
Regret is a shield from experiencing new
Opportunities that quickly become too few
Grasp each one but with open arms
To be open and free never harms
See with your soul, not your eyes
Indecision and regret you should despise
Your time to live is now.
Whether or not you know how
Learn along the way
Better you will be each day
Stronger inside
In others confide
The true path

Cliches

Somebody told me that cliches are dead
But what if I run out of things to say
Can I say "to know me is to love me"
Or "tomorrow is just another day"

What about "liars never prosper and cheaters never win"
Would I be accused of reviving the dead
"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"
Or is it "an ace in the hole instead"

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"
Or if you fall "it's only a scrape"
What if I tell them to "button your lip"
Will they get "all bent out of shape"

But I'm "at the end of the pecking order"
So how much can I really know
I'll never use cliches again
Right after " I told you so"

Faraway

Absence makes the heart grow fonder,
I thought getting into my vehicle to part,
my innards could hardly contain themselves,
as I pulled out of the driveway in the dark,

Going down the interstate feeling like a free bird,
my cage lately being anything but like home on the range,
too many discouraging words makes one feel depressed,
and too many cloudy days with the on and off rain,

Driving faraway so I can spend some time alone,
thinking of poems and my family issues at home,
picking up a beautiful shell on the beach and holding it to my ear,
feeling for a fleeting moment like a child without any cares,

The shell acted like a direct lifeline to God,
whispering for me to keep praying to Him but to go back on home,
so with tears in my eyes I realized staying faraway wouldn't solve anything,
instead I'd go home like a prodigal and try to iron out everything.
