Got to see a gift today
A gift I got from God
I came across some 3D glasses
And thought it very odd
I put the glasses beside me
And wonder what they’d bring
The next thing I noticed
Was the date on them Oct; 14 23
Tomorrow
I took the glasses home
And thought what a wonderful thing
I could see the eclips with this
That God gave me
Morning found me busy
and then I thought about the thing
Turned the television on
And It was waiting for me
Moments of time away
I didn’t miss a thing
I went outside this sunny day
To see what it would bring
I saw the very beginning
What a wonderful thing to see
Then I thought my neighbors
Would want to see the thing I see
I yelled for total strangers
And walked across the lot
Mostly spanish speaking people
I let see what I had got
I looked a dozen times
While the moon crossed the spot
A once in a lifetime venture
Was the ideal of my though
I’d give to total strangers
the thing for which I’ll never be forgot
But when it all was over
The glasses were not forgot
Thank you God for presence
A presence I almost forgot
Thanks for what you gave me
That I could give from just a lot

The new poems list I must scour
For poetry by Ilene Bauer
The flow of each line
Is simply divine
Her witty words I just devour

Although she is still in her prime
Ilene always writes a good rhyme
Despite her muse
Wanting to choose,
"I'm Cliff; please drop over some time!"

Ilene will go the extra mile
And do it with a charming smile
Climbing the walls
Can lead to falls
But bouncing back is Ilene's style!

Ten years of work got me a coat
Eddie Bauer's name on it was the style
With hand out, I'd say Bauer, Eddie Bauer
Glad to meet you! Then I would smile.
Then one day a fellow asked me,
"Eddie Bauer with a clothes line is you?"
I said, "Well, believe it or not,"
"Out in my backyard, I have two!"

BEARDED LADY
Sue woke and looked terribly weird
She’d sprouted a black bushy beard
To get rid of this look
Should she wax or just pluck
Would the re-growth be worse than feared?
Sue tweeted her best friend called Mary
(Sue knew that HER nipples were hairy)
She said try using Veet
It is very discrete …
and the re growth isn’t too scary!
The poem I posted yesterday was deep and sad ... Ilene Bauer commented she was more used to my humourous poems ... so I came up with this little ditty for her

Got a notice in the mail
That made my blood run sour,
Announcing “City of New York
Versus Ilene Bauer.”
Inside the envelope there was
A 50 dollar fine
With photos of a car attached
Whose license plate was mine.
It seems our speed was 36
But we were near a school
So 25 is what’s allowed;
My husband broke the rule.
Oh yes – although my name appeared,
He was behind the wheel.
The registration lists just me,
So this is how I feel…
Annoyed to get a ticket when
We didn’t have a clue
That a camera on a pole replaced
What policemen used to do.
My vexation, though, is also ‘cause
The ticket bears my name
For the City of New York assumes
That I’m the one to blame!
