                                             While trying to go forward,
I backed up, reassessed,
                                            and
                                            stepped

I pay no attention to sports
I turn off the weather report

        Pretty girls don’t attract me
No more do mosquitoes attack me

I read the obits and emit a long sigh
Thinking, there but for the grace of God goeth I…

A backed-up sewer full of manure
Made me gag; I was so immature

Today it bothers me not in the least
~ Life on this earth is just leased

Premium MemberStay strong

Every human has a super power
Used when life goes sour
The strength not to give in
No matter how hard time has been
You can't always win
The strength to rise above
Keep in your heart, the love
When you feel your backed up to a wall
Stand tall
Your super human strength
Will take you the length
Times you feel you could cry
Like rain falling from the sky
You may question the why
Keep moving forward
Ever toward
Tomorrow
Your own place of no sorrow
Never be afraid to try
Here's why
Reach for the sky
So many stars to choose from
Plenty of hard times to come
Pick a star
May seem so far
So far away
But you'll reach it some day
If you just don't give in
You will win

You walk in hoping for solace or a smile,
instead you’re ostracized by iconoclasts.
Oh what irony!
Becoming what you profess to be against,
don’t you see what a joke that is?
Now we’re overrun with hypocrites.

Safe spaces aren’t so free,
they’re not open to all who enter;

Copying a cadence shouting their beliefs,
rhetoric gets you in the ‘In’ crowd.
Somewhere art’s been left to flounder,
shy behind all their shallow noise.
No desire to speak,
that’s been tried before.
Can’t open up when the response
is so utterly phony.

Safe spaces aren’t so free,
they’re not open to all who enter;

You’re not backed up when you’re gone.
Don’t think you’re exempt from their rules.
Only truly welcome with a cave-ate,
be a catalyst for their agenda.
God forbid you hold your own opinion
perhaps it’s better to remain exposed.

Safe spaces aren’t so free,
they’re not open to all who enter.

Premium MemberMy Wild Encounter

There I was, squatting down at the foot of a stream,
giving my camping utensils a clean,
and replenishing my water, another necessity,
just enjoying the day, worry free.
While doing my chores, I felt a little stiff,
so I took a break to stand up and stretch a bit.
It was then that I realized not ten feet from me,
was a very curious sub adult grizzly.
"Jesus!" I exclaimed uncontrollably,
as my legs began feeling very weak.
That startled the young bear and it backed up a bit,
and after a few moments decided to sit.
It was just curious and wanted to see more,
because it probably had never seen a human being before.
So I fed its curiousity a little bit more,
by gathering my belongings and completing my chores.
"Good bye bear," I said leaving the scene calmly.
The bear just looked back at me like I was part of the scenery.
This was a moment when knowledge of animal behavior came in handy,
otherwise it could have ended up quite tragically.

Premium MemberRunaway S

A runaway S, hissed on and on,
like the Orient Express.

SSS

Thought keyboard had gone off the rails
or Howard Payne threatened a slow down.

            SSSSSS

Grand discovery…kept my cool.
The letter was stuck. It hissed

SSSSSSSS

I backed up. It continued to trek
on open windows, back and forth,

                     SSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

weaving in and out. Had to stop!
To run for help would have been

SSSSS

catastrophic…so what to do…what to do
…keep my cool. Put the train in reverse

SSSSSSSSSS

pulled up the key. Apparently
maintenance is needed but

S..backspace..SSSS…backspace

at least my words are not passengers
…not one was lost…the body’s intact.

Others

They don’t care,
if your monthly car, mortgage, utility bills,
credit card payments, a loan you’re paying back
your father inlaw has always been on time,
or if.

You didn’t see the no parking or stop sign.
Can’t afford a cap on your cracked front tooth,
so it doesn’t have to be extracted, or that.

You’re sending your child to a private school,
cause of a hearing problem born with.

They don’t care.
You're driving an eighteen-year-old car, or that.
It just about turned over this morning, or the toilet
backed up, you water heater’s has a slow leak, and
is gonna need to be replaced soon, before it bursts
and floods the basement.

They don’t care.
That person riding the same bus as you each morning,
working next to you ten years on the job,
sitting in the dentist’s waiting their turn to be tortured.
The policeman that pulled you over.
The bank that holds your montages.
The utility company that, thanks you each month,
on your bill, for being a prompt paying customer.
The purser at your child’s school.

They don’t care, they just don’t care!

Premium MemberOh, Bunk

I used to say the 's-word'
    even the t-word (turd)
But after quite a long thunk
I've now come up with -- 'Bunk!'

  Suddenly I'm the intellectual-type
'cos whenever I have a gripe
  I sound just like a policy-wonk
    when I articulate, "Oh, Bunk!"

In fact, yesterday my toilet backed up
    and though - Shxx! - I couldn't fix it
The toilet spewed out some black junk
at which point, after a short thunk,
I screamed, 'That TURD really STUNK!'

This is no confession

Simply in a vow of non silence
I pledge my truth to your bindings
In leather wrapped leaflet drop
Of liquid sentences unheard of: flopped

The truth is wrapped in criptic verse
coersed right from any slumbers lips
Chains that bind truth to backed up lies
Lingering truths unhinged, unwise

Whereas the quiet of peaceful pieces
Puzzeled dangers Ill concieved
When the tolling bell spells out all toil
all tried up in this mortal coil

By will not, but by dreams dreamt solemnly
While fractured cryptixed unsolved churn
Into any answer depending on turn
For which pain dissolve straight into burn

Flames left to forge to gold
until time has grown weary and cold

Premium MemberThose Red Suede Boots

Those red suede boots came splashing in
With the pride of elephants, dangling fringe
I got out of the way, my mouth to my chin
Others were terrified, some did a cringe.

Nancy Sinatra could not have done any better.
Those boots were prancing up like an Irish setter.
I backed up toward the wall, and let them pass by.
Too terrified to squeak out the teensiest “hi”.

He Was A True Master, A True Master Of His Destiny

I am a sailor, a wanderer, a sailor born to be.
I have sailed mighty oceans, all the seven wide seas.

There is not a soil tiller, not that kind within all of me
I fought the ocean and the gigantic storms throwed at me
I never backed up a single inch, because I am born free
When the dirty pirates raided, I was the first one to fight
I tell you the truth, I killed a dozen that tragic night.

I am a sailor, a wanderer, a sailor born to be.
I have sailed mighty oceans, all the seven wide seas.

I am a raging fighter, bravery flowing in my veins
A restless tiger in this gallant heart, I am without shame
Whether it is pirate swords or hot muskets blazing away
I fight without reserve, as such is just my own courageous way
A penny for your thoughts, a single dollar for your last meal.

I am a sailor, a wanderer, a sailor born to be.
I have sailed mighty oceans, all the seven wide seas.

Robert J. Lindley, March 15th, 1979

Note.( A man without honor, is not a man at all.)

Regular Movements

Cleanse your colon
the future of poetry demands,
and this is just the place for it.
Backed-up words = writers block.
Void the unavoidable,
eliminate the congested
proud and loud.

Fear not the mess
white pages and toilet paper
so similar

Write on with a lax and easy grace
to the next vocalized movement,
your next creative peristalsis.

Bright Bulb Spark Ipso Facto

Not do bright after all

Glowing like a bulb

Covered way down deep in manure

Misrepresented and posing
as fertile soil

Backed up by so called expert
quasi intellectual bright sparks
types armed with clipboards
pie charts and endless statistics

To keep us all firmly in the dark

Using flattery as a conniving
erstwhile tool to make us all feel

Ipso - facto
De- facto
Tik - Tok - Toe

Aren't we therefore

Er- Go

Also so very , very smart as well
