Just Going Through a Phase

I pay no attention to sports
I turn off the weather report

        Pretty girls don’t attract me
No more do mosquitoes attack me

I read the obits and emit a long sigh
Thinking, there but for the grace of God goeth I…

A backed-up sewer full of manure
Made me gag; I was so immature

Today it bothers me not in the least
~ Life on this earth is just leased

Hello Gershon, Such a candid reflection on life and its phases! I love how you capture that sense of detachment and existential contemplation with a mix of humor and depth. The contrast between the mundane and profound is so striking, especially with lines about the obituaries and the backed-up sewer. Life is fleeting and sometimes absurd. Brilliantly expressed! It made me smile. Spring Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Daniel, were you ever a literary critic? You certainly have the vocabulary and style for it. Amazing review here. Thanks.

So true Gershon, we don't know the day or the hour when we get the call. Hopefully not to soon. Tom
