'My mum will not speak above a low whisper in public because she doesn't want to draw attention to herself.'
Richard C. Armitage
"Whisper, we're in church," my momma tells me.
"Please momma, let me be."
I only wanted to tell Aunt Sarah what I read,
About how Lazarus was risen from the dead.
"Whisper, you're in class," my teacher tells me.
"Please teacher, let me be."
I just wanted to talk to my friend,
About the history homework that we need to comprehend.
"Whisper, you're in the library," the librarian tells me.
"Please librarian, let me be."
I just wanted to share some gossip, so juicy,
With my girlfriend Lucy.
"Whisper, you're in an art museum," dad tells me.
"Please dad, let me be."
I only wanted to show you what I found,
A painting of a woman with a garment wrapped around.
When can I shout and yell?
When you're outside for a spell.
When you play at the city park.
Or, when you're at the beach and spot a shark!

the armitage
a decent soul blest a grant of images, illustrates beginnings reflecting throughout, occasions from the first expended journey when the hourglass stretched... abandoned worn diaries fragmenting chapters riddled with episodes, loosely bordered in leather, amassing dust...twilight dreamingly drifts near midnight twinkling stars, drooping its points into dawn's golden sleigh and graces a constant star...alone neath natural light swapped for lonelier nocturnal light, and a smile on a face dons from smiles narrowly shared, yet gently eyes serve an absence, and untouched renewed breathes life,

Armitage thought he had made his escape
The enemies were rapidly slaughtered.
If he were a cannibal, he would have roasted them.
His ancestors would have had a fit, however, so he kept walking.
The climb up the mountain back to his people was slow.
So much snow this year, and their food supply had dwindled.
He heard the hard-loud breathing before he saw the yeti.
It was bigger than he imagined they could be.
Dare he try to engage in one-to-one combat with this creature?
He turned and faced the largest teeth he had ever seen.
It would be a fight to the death; he had no idea if he could survive.
Out of the woods came three more of his clan, weapons drawn,
They yelled the war whoop of his nation and headed toward the yeti.
The battle would be much more fair now.
Armitage smiled. There might be meat for many suppers.
He began to slash toward the monster in earnest.

Chicago, I forgot to say thank you!
I forgot to say thank you for my successful birth .
With the nuns at St. Mary's, all dressed in white,
Who provided my Mother with comfort on that
birth night.
I forgot to thank the floor to ceiling mirror.
In that awesome Armitage Avenue flat.
For being there, watching me,
reflecting my toddler antics!
I forgot to thank the Chicago sidewalks,
Upon which I jumped rope and played.
And yes, I cried when I fell~
Bless you, Bucktown days!
I forgot to say thank you to Saint Mary's Church,
Where bells tolled daily.
A reminder that God indeed, ruled this earth.
I forgot to say thank Harold, the candy store owner.
For the jewels of of sweets,
Behind shiny glass cases.
Oh, boy what a treat.
I forgot to say not only thank
you, but I love you,
To all my Bucktown childhood friends.
To Joanie, sister of my heart!
To Rita, Gloria, my beloved
Cousin Maggie,and more.
Plus all my relatives so loving,
Who came to our huge
apartment over my Father's
corner store!
Memories, that made me who
I am today.
Gratefully,
Panagiota

Title: A Spooky Night
A ghostly night of scary costumes and colored painted masks
But an old wicked witch lives in a haunted house on a hill
While a gruesome mummie walks around with a white cast.
And the witch's shadow creeps upon the stained window sill.
There lies a Dracula who twirls his black cape until he finds one
White-pointed fangs, sharp teeth, and darkest black hair that shines
As he larks through the night until an early morning rise of the sun,
And leeps in the dark of a creepy graveyard filled with cross-signs.
Many spooky tales of monsters and scary things and black cats
Lies a skeleton with a skull in a coffin of silky white satin sheets,
For midnight strikes the clock and Frankenstein tips his orange hat.
With halloween trickers dressed in spider-web stockings on their feet.
A spider crawls and creeps slowly onto his spiral web and nests.
Many ghosts walks through the haunted house with eerie noises too
But please beware of the long-tailed rats running as their pets.
So "Happy Halloween", trickers or treaters with a great big "Boo"!

Sleepwalk
Young and angelic in a dream of sleepwalk in the night,
Looking for a tall figure, nothing in sight. It was her sparkling
eyes that came upon the darkness of light and she headed for the
mountains, just a sleepwalk in the night. She was named "Casper",
the friendly ghost because of her long-white nightgown. Always had a
sweet charm, but don't be alarmed! A night of sleepwalk, as she jumps
back in bed again. Never a bad dream, just a sleepwalk with a friend!

"Where's The Blame"...
I'm sorry for many years, I've done you wrong
We argued so much and I cried many times for you.
But you never came home or sang your favorite song.
I know that I had mistakes and I feel like a fool.
Night and day, I had to find a way to get you back,
My hurt and pain was intense that I could not be here
I know now that you are gone and that's a true fact.
For many years and countless days, I cried my tears!
If there was one wish for a lifetime with you, once more
A dream of many treasures, wrapped in harmony and love
But chances were at risk and another, who you adored!
Please keep me safe like my guardian angel from above.
I have many regrets and don't know who or where's the blame
And the values of love are honesty, respect, caring, with trust!
It was the longest love that I had with you, or was it just lust?
For I am here, you are there, where's the blame, "oh what a shame"!

A Diamond in your eyes
She's young and beautiful, such a woman of grace
Filled with a glowing charm, and a pretty face!
Her romance has captured another dance or two,
As looking upon, a diamond in her eyes for you
There was a moment that he loved her so dearly
And countless days, months, and giving yearly.
She appeared faintly as a pure angel in disguise,
As she stares out into the blue sky to fantasize.
Just two, three, and four that sparkles in the night,
And waving "goodbye" shows many colors of light.
She is fancy free with fame and always so sweet,
Nor a stormy or cloudy day, but a chance to meet.
The promising of hope and a chance of winning her,
Has become so fair and brought courage as a young girl.
A light in complexion, a soft and pure heart that glows in you,
Such a gem of brilliance, like a diamond in your eyes, for two!

"One Halloween Night"
There's a old woman who comes out at night
A gray hair, black robe and a white rope too,
Just don't look at the window, is it fright?
The graveyard stands still, while she's by you!
Spirits roam through the grave and haunts about
They prance and dance with spooky shadows,
"Hurry and run, run, run", as the angel shouts.
Don't be scared, or you'll have to fight the battles.
Tonight is eerie with the moon and howling dogs,
Where ghosts and mummies are roaming in the night
And a black cat that creeps along the bridge in the fog.
Looking for Frankenstein and mummies are out of sight!
Having a Halloween night filled with scary thoughts too,
The excitement of spooky costumes, and many monsters
Filled with candies, games, parties, and some fun with you.
And don't forget the eerie grave of one who haunts her.

A jolly old man
Who makes your wishes come true
A joy of Christmas
Brings such special gifts to you
She waits for him patiently
Underneath the tree
Sprinkled with faith and hope too
My love is a gift
Two are kindness and giving
Three is a promise to you
I give you my heart
Filled with a decoration
Now and forever
A sweet communication
Near to me or far apart

I light a torch and hold it so high,
It shines so bright, it lights the sky.
You'll see the light, you'll know it's me
You find the strength, to set yourself free.
From the pain and sorrow,
You're the best, so let it be!
I've walked thru many days of years,
Then a whisper of words, in my ears.
Thou, laughed and cried, with many tears.
I believe that you were always there,
My memories was fading, but I always cared!
So, let the light shine bright and strong,
But remember, a love that was never so wrong!
