Inspired by the sweet, whimsical movie, "Benny & Joon", starring Johnny Depp, Mary Stuart Masterson and Aidan Quinn. A stellar cast and performance.

Joon and Sam

Wearing a helmet in the car
Watching the world pass by
See a man sitting in a tree
A connection is formed

Lose a bet and gain a roommate
Enjoy new ways to experience life
Painting together and sharing a sweet kiss
Feelings and emotions became entwined

Sam and Joon became close friends
It blossomed into a true love
Two hearts became one
In unusual circumstances

Two eccentric people
Trying to navigate their path
Finding love and acceptance
A chance to have a new start

An artist and a performer
Delightful moments together
Ironing cheese sandwiches
In Joon's new apartment

Independence and freedom
Dignity and respect
Choices that are made
To live and learn and love

Joon and Sam together
It's a sweet, whimsical love
To remind us that anything is possible
In our Universe so beautiful

Haydn Aidan and Monica Reith

Haydn Aidan and Monica Reith
Made a pact to share false teeth
They did the same with pants and shoes
It saved the bother of having to choose
One worked by night and one by day
They shared a bed and to keep it neat
They made the change in a passageway
They shared a bed but to keep things neat
Each one had their own bed sheet
They only decided they would try it
To help each other keep to their diet
After fourteen years when both were thin
They started living apart again
Then Haydn Aidan and Monica Reith
Each went and bought their own false teeth
But for a while they didn’t rush
Each to buy their own tooth brush
Once a week they met in town
And brushed each other’s dentures down
Monica Reith and Haydn Aidan
Virgin man and blushing maiden
Neither of them ever saw
That the other may have wanted more
Those bestest of best best friends
Which is sadly where our story ends

Leading Lady

Be Juliet to my Romeo?
If Tony, I’m Maria seeker,
The Dexter to my Tracy?
Or to Jamal my Latika?
The Ilsa to my Richard?
Or in his case known as Rick,
In cartoons, still important,
Be the Minnie to my Mick?
With help from Luke and rebels,
Would you be my Princess Leia?
And if my name was Spike,
Would you be my own vampire Slayer?
Would you be ginger to my Fred?
Christine to my Raoul?
Marion to my Indiana?
Am I just a lovesick fool?
Jasmine to my Aladdin?
Elizabeth to Will?
The Rose to me, your Captain Jack ?
Would cause me such a thrill .
Be Vivian to Edward?
The Sandy to my Danny?
The Holly to my Paul, of course,
Or to my Frank, you Annie?
When meeting up together,
Become Sally to my Harry?
And in the sexy City,
Me be Aidan, you be Carrie?
If I am Sebastian,
Will you please be my Mia?
And if my name was Carlo,
Would you be my own Sophia?
If I was called Ron, then,
Would you be Hermione,
And if I was a frightened beast,
Would you be Belle for me?
So can you name the stories,
Of these couples that have been?
You’ll always be my leading lady,
Every single scene!

Two Roads, One Lane

Two Roads; One Lane
By; Aidan Gilbert

Daisies are turning blue, Roses are staying red
When a rock dies does it know it was already dead
Stone cold lying in the dirt
Oh did it feel its hurt
It’s too late to cry for my pain
You already disgraced my name
Did the land carry you off your feet
I thought I heard it call your name
Leaving me in pain
I planted the tree of our memories
The leaves are just pictures of me on my knees
It is watered through my eternal eyes
There’s no shame for a man to cry
My heart never returned
I watched in flames you let it burn
Now a days these black walls all look the same…
Back to me is the only place you never came
Same colored sky same colored night
This inside feeling I can’t deny
Every night, only one star so distance and far
I wonder what it sees
When it looks down on me
What happens when a leaf falls
Back at the tree its family calls
It leaves back memories
But the death is all you can see
These whiskey waters are getting dry
That means my love is about to die
I give one final call, but no one picks up
That now means I’m the empty cup
Set down forever…
Erase me never.

The Thoughts of a Suicidal Heart Two

The Thoughts of a Suicidal Heart Two
By: Aidan Gilbert

God your my favorite piece of a shattered dream
In the darkness your the black shinning beam
Holding you so close, nothing made sense to me
Your a dead hope of something that could set me free
God let me cry!
God let me die
Your empty love holds on too strong to my empty soul
At the shore a tiny hole
Lay at rest all joy I know
Do I kill myself now?
God I never figured out how
Falling rain
Suicidal heart never tame
Death is all that is sane
Do I kill myself now?
Holding onto love is to hard somehow
God goodbye...
Sorry my empty life couldn't even be a sad excuse for a lie

The Journey of Finding Me and Holding Onto You

The Journey of Finding Me and Holding onto You
By Aidan Gilbert

Now I now
I know why you left
It was me wasting all my time trying to find myself
Only finding out that I needed you
It was never an official goodbye
Hoping again we’ll say hi
But your gone
So I write this song
I’m lost again
Confusion once again
But I find strength in hurt
Ignoring myself thinking we will work
Believing we will both be broken enough to love a lie
Trying to figure out the puzzle piece: life
Yet I’m bold enough to call myself out into the waves
Open my eyes but stuck in haze
What’s taking me so long
To find a clear day
With you happiness put it all away
Now I’m stripped to my knees
Handed to the enemy: me
The person I could be is too strong
The person I am right now is wrong
There is no perfect me
How could I even be set free
I should just die
But I know that is a lie
With you I had a chance
 Remembering our only dance
…I Wish you were here
So l could hold you near
Have nothing to fear
I don’t need to know who is me
Just seeing you in my mind is key

Dying Cry

Dying Cry
By: Aidan Gilbert

Oh please don’t you cry
My love is not an empty lie
Please don’t wish for a better day
I have more, I have more to say
I have your one hidden wish
It is my last kiss
Don’t you dare let your soul die
I have too much hope to let you say goodbye
But I’m sorry my love never tried
This stormy cloud won’t stick with rain
Please come and joyous sun it will gain
I’m sorry about your pretty white dress
My broken heart tear stained it into a mess
You are my one and only
Sorry that picture you could never see
God show me your unfailing grace
Return to me her face
God where did I go wrong
I wrote her his song
Maybe she left because she never heard it
That’s why I lost her bit by bit
Maybe it’s because I’m not a man
Too much ignorance to hold her hand
Your now my dying cry
I wish I didn’t have to say goodbye

The Clouds and the Rain

The Clouds and the Rain
By Aidan Gilbert

The Stormy days force me to ponder
Ponder about the clouds
Wonder about the rain
Are they people too?
Do the clouds float frantically scared of falling fast
Do they sit in their thoughts so absent minded and undisturbed they float in air
Are they the keepers of our dreams
Keeping innocence and hope free and safe
Wondering about the rain makes me think each raindrop represents a time someone shed a tear
Now I know why they say the world cries when it rains
Maybe the world makes it rain just for us to watch
Knowing it hits our soul in a way that makes us drawn in by its mysterious beauty
The rain simply makes me sad
It forces me to sit on the roof of my heart and stare down at my existing disasters
Although I don’t stare for very long because I know
Just because the sun doesn’t shine forever
Doesn’t mean it will rain for that long either
I return to reality and continue my unwavering gaze at the storm
There is always a time to think and ponder
But my time lies within the clouds and the rain

The Wanderer

The Wanderer
By: Aidan Gilbert

People say time ticks faster than it’s allowed
I say we walk too slow
People say stop to enjoy every moment
I say some moments aren’t worth stopping for
Everyone says the storm already passed
That just means I’m following it
Everyday black and grey
It’s all the same
I don’t know which road I lost my soul
Probably lost it before I started this journey
People say death brings sorrow
I say it brings happiness because that’s when you finally get your freedom
I ain’t know mistake in life
Just the sad thing it coughed up
This world is my jail time
It locked me up for wanting innocence
I am not allowed to pray for a better time
Because these bad times are the only times I am allowed
There ain’t no sunshine in Hell!
Just me wandering
Wandering aimlessly around

A Pretty Sound-Hit Me With Your Best Shot

A Pretty Sound-Hit Me With Your Best Shot
By: Aidan Gilbert

At the park swinging
I heard my phone ringing
Picked it up and heard my Mom crying
The cancer spread, I was told I am dying
It sucks to know you only have two weeks
And to live them in a hospital bedridden too weak
Staring at the ceiling colorless eyed
Hiding the question that burns my jumbled mind
Why did God choose me to die
My parents sitting at my dying side
So quiet I can practically hear my brother two stories down trying not to cry
Taking the elevator with my grandparents to see if his only sister is alright
In my dreams I scream at God
Why did you do this?!
Was there some pretty picture on my way here I missed?!
Well you hit me with your best shot
My remaining cheerfulness you get to watch rot
All of this broke me down
For the first time calm lying still in my hospital gown…
I just wanted to have heard a pretty sound
I was taken by something out of my sight
But I wasn’t truly hurt that I wouldn’t be able to put up a fight
It was me as a fifteen year old girl and being robbed that right.

My Baby Boy!

My Baby Boy!
Dedicated to my Grandson, Aidan

One evening in October I was introduce to a new
baby boy. To my dismay I fell in loved instantly
I really never knew love quite like this in my life
But in a breath of a moment he touch my heart
and it was a feeling that was out of sight.
My heart leaped with joy-My tears I could no longer hold back
for the sight of this new grandson
brought me back to life. This Adorable little
man is called my baby boy, the one I love, cherish,
and truly enjoy!
With is beautiful Blue Eyes, I grow weak
His powerful ooohhh's and cooo's
are like music to my ears.
His beautiful smile put me in a trance
He even know how to shift my gears
Knowing he has me twisted around his finger
He is still my little man, he is my Baby Boy!
