You Can'T Hurt Me Anymore

You can’t hurt me anymore Your power has gone away It only hurts when I let it And I’m not going to play You can’t hurt me anymore I know how to medicate I have only sadness for you Only pity and not hate You can’t hurt me anymore I’ve gone to a higher plane A place where only truth abides A place free of your pain You can’t hurt me anymore My eyes and heart are blind To all that you say and do To all but what is kind You can’t hurt me anymore But you only hurt your soul When you try to run from truth You'll stay broken and not whole You can't hurt me anymore I've come to grips with it all Peace and good will now visit me I've gained strength, and I stand tall You Can't Hurt Me Anymore!

I stay away from what I know will bring pain and what I know isn't good for my mental wellbeing. I'm doing well so far. I have my good and bad days...but I'm learning. :) Hugs

The never ending saga of love found, shared and then lost. The repetitive use of the phrase "You can't hurt me anymore," strengthens the message of this poem and captures the depth of hurt that is exposed by the author's words. This use of repetition is successful in this application and sets the mood for this poem. Emile #7

I disagree with Shane, the world can be a wondorous place. It is a nice thought that we can somehow insulate ourselves from pain but in so doing we would also miss out on all the good stuff. That for me would be the grey eternity he speaks of. It seems this piece has struck a chord with your readers.

Hello, Richard. When one doesn't know better, one trusts. However, if a person proves unworthy of trust, then it is just prolonging suffering to stay around. Thanks for the visit.
