Yes I Do Still Hug
Poetry will take a backseat now as I return to school
Big smile now, happy, happy, joy, joy.
As painting took a backseat to poetry, poetry will take a backseat to my children.
Bigger smile as I think on their faces, how much taller they will be, a few tanned.
The ones who actually ventured outside.
I am not saying I won’t be popping a poem on the site every other day, but
To keep this frantic vacation pace is not feasible again until next May.
I am going back to school!
My second most favorite place in the world.
In six more days, I can leap out of bed, with pure joy.
School is where my friends are.
The ones I can touch and smile and hug if I want to.
Yes, you are all my friends, certainly.
But I cannot hug you.
And yes, I do still hug.
