Thought I'd do a little experiment of writing in different settings and using different mediums. Typically I do everything on my phone and I wonder if it uses different bits of the brain if physically writing, typing, committing to memory etc. I suspect I'd be faster and sharper on a computer as I touch type but I don't sit at a computer unless I'm working. I also don't hand write as it feels too slow. I haven't produced anything spellbinding (but I didn't venture into the edit zone either). It was fun to think of so many takes just on a two word starter though :)
(composed in head as woke up) Mid yawn, self suffocation Out of your control No fear, you know how it goes You're better at the end, than at the start Have faith in the recalibration part (Composed in phone notes - most are) Mid yawn, stretch til pain Involuntarily aspiration til clear When required they'll take over from here Though you weren't involved before Illusion of self, top drawer con, forevermore (Composed whilst walking) Mid yawn, standing out With something you can catch if you look We're all right here, on the hook Not recalling the forever of in-between Mouths open in unscream of silence we've seen (Composed on the laptop) Mid yawn, all I can do is pause As my mind reaches to grab a thought Then gives in, gives up, wholly caught Then released, settled, swims on like before Best not to dwell on when you glimpsed hell (Written in 3 minute window of time) Mid yawn, do I panic in this space Don't look at me, my lack of control is a disgrace To be revealed as needing air, shamefaced Later consider it is something we share Reflection on self to self, I'm quite unfair (Written when I considered writing a thought out stanza and retaliated against myself with a random one without thought instead) Mid yawn, feeling of pleasure I'll stretch out at my leisure Can fake it and make it mid way through Bring on what is involuntary, strange but true Power of suggestion, makes others yawn too (Written as I had a 2 minute wait outside school) Mid yawn, replicates the moment I was born First gasp for air delivered despite being scared Each one then seems easy as momentum kicks in We end where we end and begin as we must begin (Written lay in a hammock) Mid yawn, feel the breeze in my hair Unhurried for now, pushing back any cares A headache reminds me I've not paid my dues And a tumble of worries try to irk and confuse So I just close my eyes in the hope it'll diffuse (Still in hammock) Mid yawn, ponder the yawns I have caused I've yawned myself silly writing this of course Some of you will cite me as the reason for yours As long as not followed by multiple snores Don't advise me I'm boring, just please ignore (Composed watching swimming lesson) Mid yawn, unassociated with lack of sleep Unknown elements to me run deep My thinking is not akin to my peers It concerned me at times over the years As I embrace authencity, mostly that clears (Composed with intent to write something slightly decent but I've used up all my ideas) Mid yawn, filled lungs and stalled responses A paralysis consumes until air ensconces Seconds overtly stolen from day Publicly incapacitated, in takeover display Don't question, don't question, the herd will say (Composed in open collaboration with David Kavanagh) Mid yawn, distortions of time and self Consciousness shifts like a book on shelf I hover between this state and another Both under sheets and ‘neath the cover Mysteries within I have yet to discover Mid yawn, I face my human condition On my deathbed with an act of contrition Hollowed out eyes view abhorrent scenes Inverted symbols, bring fentanyl dreams Nothingness bleats directly into my brain Reaper nods off, I’m off the hook it seems

Dear DD, I think your experiment worked really well, and I enjoyed this existential journey. I truly liked how you used the mundane act of yawning as a springboard to explore deeper aspects of human existence while maintaining a playful and experimental structure. Wisdom filled! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Thank you so much Daniel - your comments are always a joy to receive. It's fun so much came from just two words, think I was really cooking with gas yesterday :)

Bravo for sure and written on the spur of the moments. Like ink I really liked the added imagery of laying on a hammock, it took me there and that is refreshing. Fascinating how you came up with these, in all DD interesting what ai puts together. The last stanza combines two great thinkers! Sigh...I'll read again

Thanks Anaya, David has a great poetic mind and although we usually have distinctly different styles, this collaboration worked well and was a great twist. So glad you liked it, it's a piece of throwaway poetry in one way (not David's bit of course!) but an interesting idea. I think I should go on a computer more as I type very fast, but not sure I can be bothered haha

I love your creative write. It makes one think. Many ways a writer can write. I love the computer or paper. Great last line/so true... Have a wonderful day writing away.....................

Spontaneous mid yawn Stanzas, experimental perhaps, but overall an innovative success, Dilly Dally (Top drawer con) never, although I do agree your thinking is not akin to your peers, keep it that way poetically speaking, thanks for the mention of my rather insignificant input, I agree with Ink, was so good to read this one, cheers David

Thank you David, I might look up other writing exercises as I'm sure they'll do no harm. Although my real area of focus should be editing. It was a great addition to see that even after I'd spent the day writing from the same two word prompt, your input re-energised it. I appreciate you stepping in, thank you :)

Ah this is so good to read, refreshing dear dd, i always write in my mind and mostly on phone as i feel like im doing an assignment when i write on pc, and i feel weird writing on a book but i love books and pens too. And the comment below made me laugh: haha the usual ai lines they are: i also love the hammock line made me see through your words. Brilliant ending to your poem, great collab. Pleasure reading this! Now i feel like i should try this even if i dont post hah!

Thank you - I can add to it if you want to join in? It was a fun idea, didn't prove anything but I'm convinced there is something in the idea. It's funny that the most difficult technique is trying to impress (I didn't actually get that far, I should really take a best one and then perfect it). I've never studied poetry, I imagine there's loads of techniques I'd find fun! Thanks for your supportive words x

Just out of interest - if a computing device is asked to write a verse it gives: "Mid yawn, the night unfolds its vast embrace/ Stars blink awake, their light a whispered grace/ Moonlit dreams begin to weave and wander/ In silent skies where thoughts of day grow fonder/ A lullaby of twilight drifts apace”
