Wonderful

Willington canal bridge, we hand in hand
our journey pausing briefly, nothing planned.
nearby an owl hooted to egg us on,
distracting the face that I gazed upon.
eager and expectant, forward leaning,
rose lips parting, no doubting their meaning.
fingers tightly coiling around my wrists,
unnecessary, I would not resist............
loved that first soft tender fleeting kiss.

Nah, it was literally a two second pucker up. I got lucky that Christmas, on the back seat of a Mini. Years later, still suffering back problems :)

A strange moment, unchoreographed, like when you stop to adjust your collar in night air. Perfectly natural, no lust, as I recall, just a punctuation in a slow walk with sparse conversation, just enjoying company before we said goodnight. Thanks, Lin. Viv x
