With Feline Grace
Her grief was dark and devastating
But she grew strong through the years
Refusing to shut down, she carried on
All the groundwork had been laid
It hadn’t been a total surprise
Just an inevitable dreadful letdown
An ensuing deep throbbing painful void
One day she saw him again after many years
He’d since become a widower
They had that and more in common
For years they had mingled as couples
They both had so much to talk about
So many tears and laughs to share
Never tiring of each other’s fond memories
So long deprived, he warmly held her hand
His attentiveness was so comforting we understood
As Mom somehow found the ghost of Dad in his warm touch
