I approach the wooded trails and hear nothing save for my footfalls crunching in the soft snow. It is the kind of winter day that even a feather falls without drifting one way or the other. The trees stand straight, tall, and silent, their branches appearing as if they’ve been painted there. The water in the nearby stream is crystal clear and motionless, reflecting the cloudless morning sky. It was still, utterly still.
crystal waters flow reflecting winter’s stillness peaceful Christmas scene

And another FAV for a Sara Etgen-Baker Haibun. You have found your perfect form of poetry in the Haibun, my friend. The perfect blend of writing and poetry. You are a master of the Haibun form. Kudos my poetess friend. Bill

Highly exceptional exposition, Sara. As I read the lines, I felt my presence well within the context and that every utterance was clearly defining of its surroundings, as if I was there. An admirable voiceation punctuating the lines--emotive Fave indeed, thank you, my friend. Aloha, William

Ah dear queen of haibuns, you never fail to leave me in awe , truly captivated by the descriptive imagery. I felt the silence and stillness of this scene that you’ve painted here from your very artistic quill. How beautiful! Especially this line stood out for me “ The water in the nearby stream is crystal clear and motionless, reflecting the cloudless morning sky. It was still, utterly still.” wow!!! Impeccable! Im still reading you to get inspired to do one of these. Fave. Sending you light

You create a stunning winter scene with your words Sara. I can just picture it in my mind, so peaceful. Every Christmas morning I go for cycle very early and there's not a soul about, I feel like I've got the world to myself. Sadly this year I won't risk going out in case I do damage to my back. Have a lovely weekend. Tom

thanks for your visit, Tom, and for sharing your story about your Christmas morning cycle. I don't cycle but for decades I get up early Christmas morning, bundled up, and walk around our neighborhood. Like you, I feel as if I have the world to myself...so comforting and peaceful. I didn't do that last year, for I'd just had rotator cuff surgery and was to keep my upper body and arm immobile for six weeks. But this year, I'm ready! Do take care of your back...it's a tricky thing.Have great day!

Wonder of wonders, peace like the flowing of grace, amazing and potent... light as air, reflecting the joy, the hope, the miracle of a winter wonderland, promising the heart to soothe away every doubt. This beauty lingers on the soul, coloring the moments in hope. Love it. God bless you, Sara, love, Gina
