Winter's Edge
White winter's edge pierces,
crisp-sharp as Arthur's blade,
running its smoothness through
trees of solemn stature
as they commit anew.
White winter's edge pierces
silvered sun shining bright,
shattering shards that fall
on frozen still waters
where elk have come to call.
White winter's edge pierces
the edges of the ledge
where eagles stand their guard
with fluffed, ruffled feathers
in total disregard.
White winter's edge pierces
flesh with hot-iced fingers
grasping iceberg's tip,
then at its furthest depths,
where none do dare to dip.
