Winter Storm
Snowflakes fell very gently at first,
until snow's white blanket covered all.
To the wild, a relief, snow quenched thirst
deer and squirrels frolicked in snowfall.
Dad and sons built a comic snowman:
tomato for nose due to a cold;
a box of Kleenex in pretend hand
pieces of corn for a smile of gold.
The snow didn't stop but grew higher,
soon limbs began to bend with its weight
snow plows rescued those with no fire
"Worst storm ever," for years a debate.
