Winter Cries

When spring arrives quickly, winter cries The snow melts, flowing down the streets Filling the brooks where gurgling waterfalls sing From the banks while birds in the trees are watching The tear dampened ground holds the tears Like a friend, holding out their open hands To catch your emotions at just the right time As they spill into bright new beginnings Last bits of winter are left behind, stranded In patches of snow on wet flattened grass The sunshine beats down, warmth, rejuvenation As remnants melt into the hours of winter’s goodbye Heidi Sands 4/11/17

This poem delightful heralds the arrival of spring, and yet it makes me feel somewhat sorry for winter, Heidi, even though I'm no fan of this cold season! Regards // paul

HI Paul. Well, I guess the poem was a success, as it was written in that way, as you describe. I agree with you too, not a fan of the cold. I appreciate your comment . Thanks :)

Love it, Heidi. : ) All you describe, and you did it so well. And yes - there's Winter, stung by the rejection, fragmented and slinking off to rage afar, to plot its return.

Let winter cry because before we know it she'll be laughing at us again.

This scene you have created with your words capture the beauty that is the arrival of spring and if I had to bet, I would say that those winter tears are tears of joy, because even winter must love the spring. :) Really nicely done Heidi. I do love the analogy of the melting snow as winter's tears.
