Winter

As relay of snowflakes grip the bald trees, The chill of innocence tints White leaves silent as ice. Bead-like is the foliage of calm nights When thanksgiving wanders deep; Through winter’s sacred pall. After last winter it takes an artist to paint such a picture as you did.

Nette, this is amazingly descriptive. Though I do not enjoy winter, I certainly enjoyed your kimo for it. The second verse was the one that I found really outstanding. By the way, I think you would be ok to not capitalize these lines. Not sure, but it seems to me that Kimo is like a haiku and would not need it! BIG congrats for your second place win.

This fine poem has special import for me because I spend considetable time outisde during deep Winter. There is a very majestic beauty and pain to this season, and you do it wonderful justice not onlyas a metaphor, but as a accurate painting as well. " silent as ice..." this is sharp skill. J.A.B.
