Winked At Me

I heard a noise under the sink
that sounded like a clink, I think.
At first, I thought it was the cat;
her collar can make sounds like that.
But this sounded more like a bell
ringing, as far as I could tell.
Now, what could it possibly be,
I simply had to go and see.
It couldn't be a rat or a mouse,
there are none of those in my house.
I cracked open the cupboard door
for a quick peek, and nothing more.
But what I saw was not scary,
it was a trapped, frightened fairy.
She looked up, smiled, and winked at me;
for I was there to set her free.
Prettier than a butterfly,
her wings were as blue as the sky.
How she got trapped, I'll never know;
but I'm happy I let her go.
