Why Do I Love

Why do I love the stars? they are so far away-- as the moon, dear guardian of night, whose light is gone the following day; and where does that light go, the sun will brightly say, it was only yours to own till she fondly went astray… I guess, as with love as with life, though gifts they are only loaned at best; and take them for what they are, and for what they are not, take them for less....

The question is of one innocent like a child...after all where does real poetry come from but the heart. I like the mix if words at the end and the final words.

Hi Kim; I think, perhaps, people can become too possessive; putting one's own needs and expectations over what others can realistically give. I guess, it wouldn't hurt any of us, to lighten-up more often. Life is fleeting, and the expression of love is always precious.
