11/12/2024 for Who Am I - Poetry Contest sponsored by Constance La France

Now, I feel sad. Usually, I am OK. It's mainly because of this back problem - which can isolate me. Sometimes, my personality keeps me apart. I'm afraid of old age, pain, and isolation. I cannot help but to get old, but there are things I can do to stay connected. First and foremost, I must take good care of myself, but I must accept that time takes its toll - ...and there is something else. I can be mindful of how I communicate, like sharing positive messages more freely, being more open and honest, and yet keeping negativity to myself.

Thanks, Sally for your heartfelt words. It sounds like you are meeting big challenges, but it does seem like the mind and meaning can go a long way. Sometimes, it seems to me that as our bodies age, our minds become stronger in the sense that we are given an ability to accept and see things differently. I'm with you - one step at a time!

Hi David, great thoughts on things we can't change and also on things we can change. Aging we have to accept. Indeed time takes its toll. But through positive thoughts and a disciplined life, we can keep much of its harassing assaults.

hi Valsa, thanks! I agree with you on that perspective - see what you can and can't change.

David l love the honesty in your poem...life and ageing can be hard and lonely...we just have to do the best we can with what we have. Back pain can be so debilitating! Debx

Such humble words of truth read here my friend. I am with you on growing old David. The body starts sending you little messages that were never sent when we were young. My brother had two knee surgeries, I remember when he use to run like wild horses now his joint pain reminds him to take it easy and running that is out of the question. Have a wonderful day David and I hope you get through without any bodily pain...

Thanks Michael! yep, I know people who were marathon runners and needed knee replacements later - too bad. Wild horses - that reminds me of that old Rolling Stones song :-)
