‘TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING’ WHISPERS OF CHANGE
Dylan Song Tribute Poetry Contest, Oliver Mckeitham, sponsor, 6/18/2025 the weight of the world hangs heavy, like dark clouds pregnant with rain. whispers of change linger in the air. we are but leaves in the wind, twisting and turning, caught in tumultuous storms. whispers of change linger in the air. writers, poets, and journalists gather in the shadows of their ink, the weight of unspoken truths lays heavy on their minds. whispers of change linger in the air. congressmen tarry in the shadows of their chambers, the cries of the weary and voices longing for change, muffled. whispers of change linger in the air. senators, the walls that cradle your decisions are thin, the air heavy with the dream-suffocating weight of silence. whispers of change linger in the air. parents, torn between the past and the pulse of tomorrow, their voices echo in the halls of memory. whispers of change linger in the air. paved with the stones of tradition, the road once traveled is cracking beneath the weight of progress. whispers of change are in the air. like seasons changing, the old order is rapidly fading, every end is but a new beginning, every sorrow, a seed for tomorrow’s bloom. whispers of change are in the air.

Some very good thought-provoking lines here and great attention to detail. The world is at stand-still at the moment with the middle east crisis so this is a very timely and exceptionally written piece!

thank you for your kind words. I agree...the world is at a standstill. The original songs words were written in the 1960s and are still relevant today.

Bravo on your great contest submission! This covers various subjects. No matter the technology, climate, or era, I think human nature stays unchanging. Very well done, Yellow rose

This one gets a FAV, Yellow Rose. Nice entry for the contest! You cover a lot of territory in this one. I've heard it said, "change or die." I think I'll go ahead and get on board with change. :-) Your poet friend in Texas, Tex

I have always felt that times may change, technology may change, weather may change --- but people don't change. We have the same hang-ups and psychoses we've had ever since we got booted from the Garden of Eden. This pessimist is simply an optimist --- with experience

I agree with you, Gershon. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I think sometimes my life's experiences has made me a wee bit cynical :-) ... but I'm trying to remain optimistic. yellow rose

Awesome take on the song. Personally I never cared for Dylan and feel he's greatly overrated, but I'm in the minority for sure. Yep, there's a change a comin, but it ain't what most people are expecting

thanks for your encouraging comments, Tom! I l preferred the Dylan songs of the mid to late 60s. Yes, time's are changing, but I'm not totally pleased with what I see. Yellow Rose
