Where Do Poets Go
Poets go to the deepest mists of their desire
to find a faint voice calling, yearning to be heard
urging, not to be afraid of the silent space
between reaching expectations
and the journey to find the hidden words
which lay trembling in the mind's cluttered realm
of shadows and glimmering sparks of light
slowly drifting
waiting to be plucked from their abandoned state
by the poet's needs to form a sentence
to dance with beauty and the illusion of a poem
in hopes when read by a critiquing mind
it's read from a place of serenity and grace
rather than from a judgment passed
by a perception of the world as they know it
The poet's path grows lonely
as it moves through a long winding someplace
where some have gone, never to return
as they sought perfection from an imperfect mind
flooded with vaporous possibilities
which endlessly float in the mind's chamber
so they may speak to someone they will never know
with their written words
