When Woes Waken

When woes waken depression in my soul,
life's fabric unravels at its edges.
And part of me is ripped from the whole,
I'm not the hero, my ego alleges.
I've felt the despair of a lonely heart
atrophying in a bubble of hope.
And yet, I still resist pressing restart,
it's hard enough to merely try to cope.
I stock the fringes of wonder and dreams,
armed with cupid's bow and arrow of love.
And yet, deaf to the siren's silent screams,
I let fate steer a blind course from above.
I've had doubts that love would ever find me,
and yet, in time, all of those doubts will flee.
