When Looking Back
When looking back, I am warmly amazed
how selflessly she endlessly loved me.
She saved all self-worth not lost at life’s knee
with nurturing her mother’s heart engraved.
She loved me thru years of diapers and dolls ~
when wee and witchy, she love-turned me calm.
She loved me with rocking chairs, back pats and song ~
when a child with nightmares and ouchy wrongs.
She loved me with words and embracing arms ~
when a teen with randomly launched qualms.
Now, time sits in her final phase ~
where I am parent, she, the child's face.
Days as years go by with no joy gained ~
I can only ensure her comfort is attained.
I attempt her best fulfillment and emotions ~
through my love and daughter devotion.
When heaven posed, may Mama look back amazed
how tenderly I was willingly her care devotee.
May she know I sought worth from age debris
with nurturing that her heart, heart-engraved in me.
