What Price Progress

Free Agency! Revenue Sharing! A Minimum Wage! Birth of thel Players' Union Dawn of a new era The way forward! A progressive agenda for professional baseball in the 1970's and '80's... So, how are things now in the 21st century? Baseball stars switch teams like kids change horses on a merry-go-round The multi-million dollar gladiators are not just players anymore -- They're corporations The average fan can't afford a ticket to games that drag on interminably -- three, four, five hours... Home Run! We Win! The hi-tech scoreboard explodes -- For how much longer? And for whom?

Nothing goes up for ever. My wife gets so mad when she hears about the salaries of some athletes. Nice poem on a current subject. Well done.
