Welcome To the Real World NZ

We thought we were better than the rest, That somehow we were more special, And others only should pay the price, That we were too peace loving, For a Terror attack to dare to disrupt the ebb and flow here. The recipe for disaster is the same everywhere, First let a person isolate themselves from reality, To let imaginary wounds fester, With no friends to sooth their troubled brow, What else can one expect, But a ticking time bomb. There is nothing left now, now but to pray, That we can keep our comments light, And our humanity to the fore, As we look for doors and windows to open, And more welcome mats to place in front of doors.

G'day David … nicely written. To think this happened in NZ is so hard to comprehend. This will take some time to heal if it ever does - we're thinking of you Kiwis - Lindsay

Thank you Lyndsay. Not having a constitution as such has made it easy for us to change our gun laws. There is a push for one but I think it would be a disaster. Thanks for your kind words Regards David in NZ

You are right David, New Zealand seems one of the safest places to live. All the more horrifying among such peace keeping folk then, that onslaught. We in Ireland are not long out of 30 years of sectarian violence. Blessed be peace at last.

Thanks for reading Jean. We are lucky in NZ we don't have a constitution to interfere with changes in gun control. We are also not a republic. There are those who are pushing for both. On the plus side I am now on the pension and i am not feeling any side effects from my Chemo which is curable. My second session is on Friday. Kind regards David.

Very sad. Very beautiful ode. I have family in N.Z., but whether I did or not, I would stand in solidarity with families over there. The person's name will never be mentioned, his name is to be wiped off every record in our world, he doesn't deserve a name. May all those beautiful souls taken by such a cruel reflex of insanity, rest in peace and God bless and keep their families together and safe.

Thanks for reading. I recorded this for community radio station tomorrow afternoon. Lived in Christchurch 72 -88. I picked a good time to move out. We have friends who came out from Lybya to get away from Kidnappings etc. It is hardest on the children. Thanks again for reading and commenting, Regards David
