Weighing a Smile
When weighing a smile
you measure its worth;
against the truth of
its sincerity.
Passion and desire
fuel hearts on fire;
and yet, fickle flames
sometimes flicker out.
Salvaging fragments
of shattered ego;
you suddenly feel
quite vulnerable.
And donning your mask
of obscurity;
you seamlessly slip
into the shadows.
