Wake Up John
Wake up John! The tide is in.
Your foot is caught in the line
Sharks are coming!
Come on John, you are in the net.
Resigned she dives in
And drags her man out of sea
The sharks laugh
Shining their fins,
Sharpening their teeth
On rocks, giving her their eye
Cannot get him awake? One says haughtily.
She throws sleeping powder on him.
Unfortunately, it is a bit too potent.
The sea falls asleep, the tide stops foaming.
The sand gets paralyzed. The sun stops shining.
She had forgotten how terrific her witchcraft was.
Wake up Dawn! The hide is in!
Her eyes are blinking rapidly now.
It is Little Eagle, back from the hunt, waking her from
A dream of another lifetime, from Father Moon.
