Untitled Sonnet

Untitled Sonnet I sat lost in deep thought to write today, memories flooding an old poet's mind. So little time, so important words to say hoping to be hopeful, helpful and kind! My muse, she went sailing around the world, often for me that is a pure delight. In my tired old mind words are now swirled, yet my inner spirit longs to fight. Do I write of past loves and desperate lies, heartache eating away cold hard stone? Or perhaps better, of brightest sunny skies, that warm this surging heart to the bone! Ah, too many words invade this weary mind. Off to sleep and write in dreams I often rewind. Robert J. Lindley, written in 91' Note today , an untitled sonnet written back in '91.. perhaps placed aside for later editing, however the older me now boldly says it is ok as is.. citing author's privilege.. Also thinking title should reflect past and present case..

Gosh, you were calling yourself old in THIS one, and it was from '91. Maybe I will look back at myself saying things like that TODAY in MY sonnets. This was lovely, Robert. The theme is one that I think many of us are feeling with out writing. The ending couplet is just right! And I agree with you on your untitled title. WE should all have an untitled one!

Well my friend, back in 91 I was 37 years old and to me that was old. A realization from my viewpoint as a wild young man when in my twenties- my seeing and thinking the of the thirties and forties as being old! I look back now and even see 50 as young. O' what I could do now with my long lost 20 year old body and my current 61 year old mind working as a team. A wishful thought I've had often.. lol

Thank you my good friend. We poets our hearts do so often use, even when, we are alone and without a trusted muse.
