Listen to poem:
VOICE: Ahmad Razvi The sound of pen on paper Is so loud in my silence Like rustle in the wind Screech of a raven Small words run away From my head off my mouth Through my fingers in the ink Chirp of a bird in staccato Little sounds to white Write Write Write The soft sounds my mouth Likes to make but cannot do Little thingies stuck somewhere Crying of the pen, howls On the paper, devastated ink Running as a fountain in great Haste with enormous emotion Words that halt and halt behind My white teeth, pen on paper Unspoken but written *** Poem by Darren White January 10, 2017

I never thought of rows of teeth as a barrier to speech. "Words that halt and halt behind /My white teeth...". Nice image.

And what a great writer you are, I know you donny like trees but your name comes from the Irish Daire meaning Oak tree. It's also spelled Duir.

Who knows, if I'd been a great orator, I'd never have started to write poetry, and then.... :)

Often what we write are words that we can not or will not say out loud. The reasons vary, but it is somehow easier to write it out than to say to it to someone. I get your meaning here Darren, but the bright side...at least we can write.

I know you understand, including the hidden frustration sometimes :) But it's true, we can write. Absolutely. And I am glad for it!
