Underwater

Come and see, beneath the sea A world unbound by gravity Seaweed forests which float and sway Where schools of fishes dart and play Castles of misty coral sands Glimmer in pastel rainbow strands Boldly disguised, the octopus blends Like an eight-legged chameleon A turquoise tail of a maiden fair Breathing bubbles instead of air Fantastic yellows and blues divine Dazzle with aquamarine shine Sun dappled coins spill liquid light As waves crest towards lilac night This magic lies, so close below So take my hand, hold your breath - Here we go! 11/06/22 Unburden a 'U' word contest Sponsor: Constance La France

Hey, this was very creative and sing-songy! I felt like I was on a ride- or underwater!

What a magic trip you are inviting us all on Michelle - who couldn't but see the wonders of plant life and all the different species of fish, mermaids and others sea life creatures you describe - how breath-taking are your couplets. I hope you had a awesome Christmas and that 2023 is a whopper year for you and yours. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

I remember riding the submarine ride at Disneyland as a young kid and being in awe of the magic and color and otherworldly spectacle of it all, like visiting another planet's ecosystem where everything is strange, awe-inspiring, and full of wonder. That was the sense I got reading your couplets... a little bit of poetic magic that made me feel 8 again for just a moment. I particularly enjoyed the line "Sun dappled coins spill liquid light As waves crest towards lilac night" and the steady rhythm that felt like the gentle push and pull of the ocean. Beautiful ~ John

Michelle, this is pure, seaborne enchantment! Love the last line. It is filled with playful joy! Got my snorkel and swim fins ready! Every line and every rhyme flow with the fluidity of the tides! Congratulations! Blessings.
