Notes About The Poem

Written 4th August 2025

Too much is Enough

Too much is enough when one is full up Had plenty to eat and plenty to sup When feeling bloated Tummy’s explosive Cough loud and say sorry for the hiccup. If by chance you should have become legless Aim for the best, to not feeling reckless It's not ladylike A sure fated vice You may find that you have become feckless.

Too much is enough when you're had your fill, and too much booze sure fits the bill, a couple of shandys, and one or two brandys, can leave one feeling quite ill.

Well, I have had plenty of problems in the last few years since COVID like the first Limerick says so I totally understand that one. Thanks for sharing. Sara K

Sorry to hear that Sara, it’s not really funny at all when one suffers tummy troubles. Thank you… Beryl

Love how you mix humor with those playful warnings. That last stanza really made me chuckle. Feckless never sounded so fun!

Always loved a good Limerick, Beryl… and here we have two for the price of one. But I must say this… as a lady, be thankful it was only a hiccup you apologised for. Best of luck in the contest. Terry

Oh Terry you make me laugh, it could have been worse I suppose, but from the soup I may have been thrown. Thank you Beryl
