In The Grass… In the shadows of oaks and birch, Beneath the yearning pines Where my heart was first undone By breathless whispers, kisses Gentle wishes and senses Pressed against thoughts, sweetest Blessings, rich with passionate Caresses like melting moments Infatuated by the deepest gaze Into the soul of another, the one Who caught my heart within his grasp, His precious stroke of tenderness There beneath the struggling brush, Where petals produced the finest buds, Singing grace through my spirit, Flinging doubt to the curb – in rhythm With the sun beating out feelings, Furious passions bringing me the music Filled with racing heartbeats, Risking every stardust memory To understand – to believe – to agree With this wonderful that was caught By the breeze, the winds of chance Promising that, at last, there was the Together that meant more than happiness. There, in the grass… Where we first touched hands, Felt the groaning moments bruising Lips with the promise of a lasting Romance, the trust – security in the flames Fired by this wonderful that can only be The miracle of life’s dream dancing freely In harmony with forever – together In the Grass Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Anthony Biaanco March 26, 2023

Greetings Gina. A wonderful poem that catches couple devotion in the splendor of tall grasses where commitment was lastingly sealed. Congratulations! Brian
