Today
The sky is blue today
so I will see
only light—and if a cloud
passes, I will make it
a glorious kite;
and if a hawk
flies by I will
have him spare
the dove—for it is
my day, to doom
or fill with love.
And if we meet
I will be
amiable
and dear;
and speak not
a gloom to fear--
and recall not
a lingering tear,
for today
I will forgive
and be happy!
