To AOC

You wish to take back the flag. Really? Should we give thanks to your largess? Look to the streets for the ashes, Where flags burned in your liberal mess. Our flag has always been my vanguard. I've never let it touch the ground. It seems you've had an epiphany. Too late. Finally, America you've found. Really? note: this isn't intended to be political. Our flag belongs to, and always had belonged toAmericans. It should be respected.

Thank you Kim. AOC's comment about "taking back the flag" bothered me. The flag doesn't belong to a political party. I don't like seeing the flag used as a pawn in politics.

Yes. It hurts when a person has a loved one who has sacrificed so much for the cou try. My family has had a relative participate in every war. But peace has had struggles too. I'm never leaving. It's where I belong. Thank you.

The flag isn't a political item. I was hoping people either congratulated, or didn't comment. The flag belongs to every American; to Trump, to AOC, to hardworking Americans, and to the serial killer incarcerated in prison.

AOC is 100% behind our flag, a true patriot who will not tolerate insurrection. I am a Navy veteran who answered OUR countries call with all respect for OUR constitution and for diversity (for all those marginalized) of expression. Congrats on your well-deserved potd!

Alas, Hilda, it is a sad commentary on the state of the country when you have to put a disclaimer on a poem such as this so as not to "offend" anyone. I swore an oath in 1964 on entering the military "to protect and defend"....i still honor it. Nicely written salute to OUR flag
