This Winter
a winter that’s everlasting
showing no sign of thaw
we’re all under its spell
lulling us to sleep
having us believe
it’s endless
and the cycle of life
dare not return
succession of dreary days
feeling
abandoned
hopeless
lost under the weight
the coat of snow and ice
wondering if
we even have it in us
that flame to rise again
and conquer this lifeless land
