There Are Days When
There are days when I dread getting out of bed
The Sun hurts my eyes
Wishing it were the night before
Hidden in my cave, sleeping everything away
Leaving life behind
There are days when I dread the thirty minute drive
A thirty minute conversation of, “why did I”
How did I end up here, wanting to scream
Only politeness comes out
Forcing myself to go through the motions
There are days when I wish the World would end
Nothing left inside, embers losing their glow
Ashes lost to the wind
Wishing there were a reset button
Life in the hands of a higher authority
Lavender scents, spontaneous laughs, apple pies
Life returning, inspiration igniting
There are days when I forget what life is
Remembering what life was
Those are the days I am happy to be alive
