THE WAYS OF DREAMS

Yesteryear, dreams as promises perched on my pillow. Faithscapes
were landscaped with dream manifestations. Yet, arrival was aloof
to youthful years when I lacked fears and my strength was of infinite,
eager length. Now, in my winter, I often sight dream chances. How
cruel time is to deliver dream possibility slivers in winter when one's
vitality is history and old age, a reality!

It's a profound one, Caycay. All I can think is that by phone, the lines spill onto other lines, totaling 11 lines. I really hate that about seeing poems on our phones.

This reminds me of a phrase my aunt says, “Once you get your head together, your butt falls apart!” Giggles and I suppose God gives wisdom to the seniors as to not have it wasted on the thrill seeking youth. You make very good points in your poem.

Yep...I have yet to find the wisdom in aging. Would rather have remained ignorant but with lots of vitality, and greater chance to dream through fruition. What the heck, I adjust my Faithscapes...practical but not as much fun. Blessings my friend.

Beautifully penned! I can relate to this character. I still have dreams, but now they are often backward, rather than forward, facing.

Dreams do not care for age. Perhaps such dreams can drive one to vitality even in old age. Beautifully composed.

Ah, but the best is yet to come! And that includes vitality. Do not doubt it. Merely go find it. It's there...

Hey CayCay, The contrast between “yesteryear” and “winter” is really effective and it makes the passage of time feel tangible. I especially like the idea of dreams being “promises perched on my pillow” versus later becoming just “slivers.” It gives a strong sense of how perspective changes with age.

Yesteryear's dreams don't always come true, and I suppose it was naive of us to expect them to, but we're still waking up each morning to make new ones... maybe not the pie in the sky type, but some of those silver lining types that we need on rainy days. Hugs to you, CayCay.

CayCay, your poetry is as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey, you’re as sweet as strawberry wine. Reading you warms me like a glass of brandy! We’re that close ;-)

Yes, my Precious Lin, but did you like the poem? I'm laughing, I believe we're close enough for me to tease that way. I agree with you, I have no issue with the working of dreams, just acceptance. I was influenced to write this by a character in a movie I watched. Again, I'm being playful with my 1st line in this reply. CayCay
