The Tapestry Within
"dead leaves lay still until the wind takes them
here and there; even the last flower is withered;
yet there is beauty in decay."
Quote by_Constance La France
The tapestry that hangs on my heart's wall
is a woven fabric of yesterday's blooms
of beautiful colored blossoms
that have worn away from weathered years passed
in silent refrain
it's now a tattered pale state of gray
fading away from wisdom lived and threads of age
it's a mixture of beauty and tears
that has begun to decay
from life's tranquil serenity and life's raging tempest
the colored threads woven are from my life's loom
and they have begun to wither
yet, still, hangs majestically in my heart
and there it will stay
woven by my hands of dreams and desires
from the colored threads of memories
found along the way
there is a serenity in its worn weathered wear
though threads have begun to unravel
and its once brilliant colors have faded
it still shows a life well lived and the roads traveled
this tapestry will hang on my heart's wall
until my life's gale winds blow
unraveling every thread in its withered dying decay
as both my tapestry and I...fade away
