What a sad tale. I was engaged once and ended it 3 weeks before the wedding. I am thankful I found the courage but feel bad for my poor timing.

I suppose the groom got cold feet. A lot of preparation for the wedding to put up with that. Sad.

Crushing. Absolutely devastating. Stark, and starkly expressed in your poem. :) Gershon

Perhaps your clue lies in the middle two stanzas and the singleness of the plans made....she....she....she... A well-composed piece pointing out the importance of two becoming one in marriage. Methinks, your choice of words was very intentional and very well done.
