it pulls ... tugs on the core like a fulcrum black ... mysterious ... warm ... final harvest of all terrors (for some) yet ... it is the magic of moonglow the shimmering lucence of sun on wave-tops the wailing wonder of birth and the payment for all that is precious ... it is the wild of a madman's eye the blistering bite of hoarfrost on heather and the yearning of callow hearts ... it is the throb of time the careless toss of tawny tresses the sudor of love in a summer meadow at mid-day and the breath of life, ebbing ... it is the battle cry of the sardonic the exquisite release of suffering the lion under the bed and the monster of mortality's realization ... the torrid ache of betrayal and the soft palm of trust it is the veil of oblivion and the sweetest sum of existence ... the known of all unknowns and the fawning fate of all sentience it is blade and banneret tear and cheek brush and palette wound and heel ... it is the tunnel, dark and the angel, bright ... it is the measure and the distance the vessel and the mead the laugh and the gasp the thresh and the willow, weeping it is the last concern of youth and the first burden of age it takes life without regard or qualification yet gives everything its value it is the scraping of nails on a bloody wall the sighing of a lung's last and the tender kiss on an eye ... it is a wing pressed to the wind it is a merry moment lost to dreaming it is a tickle and a taste a dirge and a dance a question, a drug, a climax, a whisper and the gift of a lifetime's efforts well-spent it is the grief of a barren womb and the inestimable blessing of a child's love it is the drip and the ripple the echo of a heart and the shadowy mist of gloaming it is the end and the beginning the last and the last the all and the nothing the nothing the all the awe ... the reap.
