Caution: Marching to the beat of a different drum requires finding a different drum for present and future use.

If bored or just sick of before Resume life and pick a locked door Of the fitting room Where the now can resume With hats to try you never wore Seconds pass as time marches on Clocks can't stop this phenomenon There's likely no force To undo life's past course Even with help from old Obi-Wan

Dear Duke, Your poem eloquently shows the struggle of navigating life's rhythms. It's embracing our uniqueness demands seeking out unconventional paths. Your well chosen words evoke a sense of liberation, urging us to explore new possibilities and unlock doors to undiscovered facets of ourselves. This is a well crafted poem with such a thought-provoking piece that speaks to the essence of personal evolution. Wonderfully done, my friend, - Blessings Daniel

Daniel, you are as always very positive and kind. Navigating life is not an easy task. The fortunate part is that there are so many fun possibilities when we open our hearts and minds to finding what we love to do. There's always room to help others in the process--an added bonus!!

pick a lock, …hats you never wore before. “Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me…” as he tries to control, to know what is kept from him…time marches on and as we cannot change our past, we can find new things, good things to enjoy.

Kim...sounds as though you liked this. I'm thinking that the message has been said in so many different ways, but it is very tempting to wallow in something bad and focus on that (Did I every do that?...I think perhaps a bit too much as a result of not understanding what is most important in life.) That was a terrible waste of the brief life I have here.

great meter on these. I wish i could get my hands on the machine that's causing the Mandela affects. Those guys are changing words in the Bible, so time may pass on, but the evil are manipulating it!

Andrea, thanks!! I checked out the Mandela effect which I had not heard of before. Our brains don't always pay attention to details and a lot of what we perceive is filled in from past experience or what we expect. If you have a chance, give me more details on who the conspirators are since I am curious about what you're referring to.

Vijay...my thoughts exactly. The trick is how we do it. We have the opportunity to look at the past and learn so much from it. We can apply those lessons for sure.

Very interesting Duke.. As always your limericks encourages a spirit of curiosity, resilience, and openness to new experiences. It reminds us that life is a journey filled with surprises and opportunities for growth, and that sometimes, all it takes is the courage to pick a locked door and try on a new hat to discover the richness of the present moment.

Exactly on target Silent One. Courage is exactly the word I was describing...March comes in like a Lion (not the cowardly lion from Oz).

Thanks Hilda, it takes courage and fortitude to try to make the best of the present and future. I am thinking about several people who told me that we have a choice to focus on the past and define our lives by being angry about it, or by focusing on the future and making the best of life with a good attitude.

I like the idea of trying another hat once in a while. It seems everyone draws their own blueprint to some extent. Hopefully they can realize that others can be different as much as their selves.

David, that is one of the nicest things anyone could ever say. We should appreciate all our differences and enjoy the show.

I really like your choice of images for this one, Duke. It screams, many choices and so little time. With retirement they'll be new opportunities and new challenges. Everyone seems to deal with it different in my experience and those I know closely that have retired. My advice, enjoy your new freedom, but don't try to change everything at once, my friend.

Thanks Bill...sounds like very good advice. I am in no hurry to do too much. I plan to be very careful to pick things that are important to me. There's not a lot of time, but that's not a worry. Life is short for us all. I feel very privileged to have made it this far.

Well, we can certainly try a few things Tom. I know I have to figure out what to do with the time I'm going to have now that I retired. Although my goodness, this site can take several hours a day if we're so inclined. I think I need something else though! Your humor is much appreciated.

Great Limerick dear friend Duke. I think the central idea is about individuality and the need to find one's own path in life rather than conforming to societal norms. The importance of embracing one's uniqueness and not being afraid to march to the beat of a different drum. Your use of incredible metaphor of marching to the beat of a different drum to convey the idea of individuality and non-conformity. I like the "old Obi-Wan" from the Star Wars franchise.

Thanks SP. I was looking at it and thought it was a bit narrow so I added a second limerick that explained it better. You, however, are right on target as usual! I am so impressed by your intuition and skill, sir! I am always looking to be a bit light....and it sometimes makes me light in the head! We are very different in style, but I find it challenging and fun to read your creations.
