Inspired by the painting by Salvador Dali: 'The Persistence of Memory' The endless eking out of time Drains me of my verve Trying to recall what once was mine Is any sense of self conserved? If I could summon just an ounce Of the energy I need This state of melancholy I would denounce From this self made prison be freed Just over the horizon Where time does not stand still I could live before I wizen Instead of melt and meld until My numbered day descends Where regrets outnumber grains of sand Unchallenged misery finally comes to a end Engulfed in sadness of a life unlived as planned Your Selection Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Brian Strand 1st place

You definitely embrace Dali’s painting, and get lost in the melancholy he portrays, Where regrets outnumber grains of sand, great line amongst many, funny thing I have always found this painting a breath of fresh air to look at, as indeed is your poem to read, in the originality sense, glad I read this one before it melts into your back catalogue, cheers David
